Chrono Fantasy XIV

So I'm in my way to replay Chrono Trigger, and I started to think that the End of an Era trailer and the future plot development of FFXIV could be somehow similar to CT.

And I would love it, using Atomos to travel not just to the past, but to several eras, to adjust history to advert some bigger catastrophe than the awakening of Bahamut. Maybe a series of quest/expansions leading to his first imprissionment, maybe we could be the ones who initiated the Umbral/Astral eras with out time travelling... so many possibilities... the step foward in time from 1.0 to ARR could be the first of many, maybe the plot could go with Cid or the Garleans to travel in time or something...

Anyway, I'd love if the story would develop in such a way, and that Yoshi and the team has a single plot to tie the game with for a span of several years and expansions.

The thing is, we don't travel to the future.

We're put in stasis in another dimension for the five years.

I don't think anything in XIV can travel forward and backward in time, more that it can take us to another dimension.

iirc the maws worked the same way in XI.

Here's what I think on the whole ARR thing. The first "storyline" is that our whole purpose in 1.0 was for the 12 to guage our strength to see if we can truly kill Bahamut. When they saw how powerful the garleans made Bahamut, they tried to take matters into their own hands and obviously failed, so Louisoix sent us to the future to continue our development.

Now, I have a faiirly hard time believing that 5 years later, there's still people living ccarefree lives, so here is my theory. We travel back in time 4 years into the past through the use of Atomos (Abyssea style) and kill Bahamut there.

Is my theory perfect? Nope, but I still find all this fun to speculate =p

Well when you see clips in alpha calling areas old Gridania pretty sure we got put to the future.

Well correction on this:

Abyssea Travel = Alternate reality where Promathia succeeds and we die.
Wings of the Goddess = the time travel one which we learn there's multiple versions of Vana'diel thanks to Atomos, and he decides which reality is the one we witness.

So Atomos appearing could very well be something similiar.

No, no, no, no, no, no, no. No more of this time travel crap.

Use it once to get us to 2.0, but after that, never again. Time travel almost always leads to bad bad stories.

It's not time travel. We're sent into a sort of cryogenic state where time doesn't pass for us in our little crystal-style incubator. Instead, time outside passes and we sit and wait without seeing what goes on. Then, five years of outside time later, we're brought back into the world and the changed Eorzea is the result of the catastrophe, and people rebuilding over the course of those 5 years.

The main characters are put into stasis, and time passes around them. There is no alternate reality, dimension, or ANY sort of time travel at all.

How about we get a DeLorean mount.

Except in this case it's just a naming convention, "New Gridania" is not a actually a new area, just north part of the Gridania we know with some additions here and there - however the additions are there in Old Gridania too.

Of course I know we're sent to the future, but I like to nitpick when people use this argument with Old Gridania :p
