Obsessive Behavior: Side Affect of 2.0 Anticipation?

I know they are not inviting overseas applicants until after next week (as long as things go smoothly), but that hasn't stopped me from obsessively checking my email throughout the day.

I have also been watching the trailer non-stop, listening to the FFXIV soundtrack more, scavenging the forums for updates, playing other FF games, and speculating with other player theories of the possible story elements of 2.0.

I think I have a problem. Anyone else developing a case of "Yoshidacrosis?" :confused:

I have the song answers in my head constantly (cant find it on itunes or it would be on my ipod to listen to as I drive), I watch the end of an era video multiple times a day and I check my email again and again and again throughout the day to see if I got my letter yet lol. So your not alone!

The first step is admitting that you have a problem...

My personal theory behind my own obsessive rehashing of minor lore points, reloading of the forum, rewatching of the video and relearning the words to the song, is that I'm trying to fill in the spots where gameplay and game planning used to be.

For those moments during the work day where I would check about a quest/fight/crafting recipe etc. Those moments don't exist anymore, so to fill them I'm reloading the forum, or watching the video one last time. There's an empty spot in our lives without the game available.

Normally, this would just lead into us finding another thing to do. But instead of FFXIV being gone, it's on hold. So we have no closure. We're in a suspended state trying to temporarily fill the hole, while anticipating the return to the game.

And now that I think about it as a suspended state, we'll very easily slip into the correct mindset for our characters. Returning to a world that has been changed by an apocalypse, anxious to know what happened while we were suspended.

I need to get Answers DLed so I can stop playing it in my head at work and actually listen to it. Soooo good.

I've been trying to occupy myself in ffxi but that game has gone to the dogs imo.

I'm seriously considering just cancelling my subscription to XI and replaying some of my fav classics or trying something new until I get accepted to alpha/beta.

I seriously didnt know how much of a hook this game had in me until the servers went down.

This is how they hook us. By the time the game comes back up, we'll have so much XIV-withdrawel that playing it (new and improved) will be like when you eat a cracker after not having eaten anything in like, three days.

I gotta give you credit Heavens for admitting it publicly and alot of us feels that way too :)

Well said Tryst Wildkey. Im in same boat as you. Although I didn't have a FFXIV forum account until I created one that same day End of An Era Trailer was released. Since then i've been on the forum refreshing it and participating in discussions and such.

It's definitely affecting us cause we are all so used to logging in the game everyday it's part of our lives.
