Gridania music.

Sounds and feels nothing like a final fantasy. Too ambient and it has no feeling. This isn't a song ill ever be remembering in my head hours on end when I log out. What garbage

I don't feel so strongly against it, but yeah, I didn't like it as well. That said, I also didn't like the original gridania music, so to me it's like it didn't really change at all.

The track definitely feels like it belongs with the environment. And how could a track feel like a video game series?

Did FFVII's music give you the same feel as FF1? Or XII give you the same feeling as XI? I don't get it.

Well, considering FFXII is as people call it "FFXI Offline" it did give the same feeling given the environment. However if you listen to a lot of FF music including XI's or even current XIV's even though they are placed in awkward locations, it feels much more "Final Fantasy" in 1.0 than the ARR sample. The ARR song sounds like the type of music you'd find in some of the mass-produced F2P MMOs out there.

It's not bad, but it's uninspired compared to what they previously have done with music in both of their FF MMOs. There's just a certain ring to FF music and a certain ring to general MMO music, few exceptions like RO, Rusty Hearts, Lineage II and PSO/2, but when you really listen to the music..it doesn't really seem like the style you'd expect. However, SE did say they're making this an MMO people will feel right at home from other MMOs.

Personally, I like it.

I like the new music, it fits the more open, bright, airy-looking Gridania. The old music suited the gloomy, personal feel; new music for a new theme.

not as good as uematsu's gridania theme but still not bad imo.
and maybe we should not open a thread on every f*kin detail of every alpha footage in the general discussion....
