i love FFXI but.....

i love FFXI, its my favorite FF game but can the development team please stop borrowing monsters designs directly from FFXI?
as it stands now from monsters design prospective FFXI lead by far.
which i dont mind for stuff like mandys and goblins because they are kinda FFXI mascots and FFXI Fenrir look is the best in the series.
but i see the trend continues with Admantoise and god knows what, FFXII had really cool design for admantoise , wyrms and much more.
i really hope to see more balance with monster design.

While I agree, I wouldn't be too hard on the dev team. They are in a serious crunch and the FFXI adamantoise geometry, textures, AI scripting, skeletal rigging, etc, are already known to be functioning and could easily be imported into ARR to provide quick extra content.

Moving forward, I hope they give us some more unique variations of classic FF mobs, as they did with the awesome looking Iron Giant.

Plus, its very likely we will see some cool variations on that Adamantoise model in the future as bosses or w/e.

Most people here wouldn't mind seeing a lot of stuff ported straight from XI considering that it's somewhat taking place on the same world, if they're sticking to Tanaka's lore.

I don't particularly mind either, considering we get a lot of buffed up XI mobs, Piestes, Amal'jaa, Goblins, etc.

We also have unique designs like Chimera and Coincounter. We're getting Tiamat as well. I don't think monster design is something to be concerned about at all. This is where SE excels at creativity.

Who cares... bring everything from FFXI over to FFXIV.

That this means is we get more content that didnt cost much cash & time for the developers to create cus building blocks are there. Turtle design for FF12 is just bad... FF3/FF2/FF9/FF11 all got it right.

I think people should stop making duplicate threads about this topic.

But on topic, I don't mind a few direct ports. If the design was good, where's the harm in using it? This is Final Fantasy...y'know...the series that borrows stuff from itself all the time.

Everything but Amal'jaa is from FFXI but Tiamat thats gonna be in FFXIV looks 90% like Hydra from FFXI.

So I think it was Hydra that looked like Tiamat...haha and for some reason they made Tiamat a regular lookin wyrm :o

Also - I don't really mind some familiar mobs from FFXI...Adamantoise was a nice surprise! Now if they didn't have original mobs I would be like wtf...but they should have plenty of original mobs so idc.

Also, Tiamat in FFXIV is vastly different from XI's Tiamat. Even Hydra looks very stubby compared to Tiamat XIV. Even so, there's still Deathclaw which looks unique.
