Looking for what ratio of attributes to put into in order to take as a Thaumaturge offtank in a group of friends for leves each time.
I have heard a lot of sources telling me that Mind has a very weak effect on Magic Defense right now, so I am thinking of keeping that capped at 40 for awhile.
How high on average should my VIT, INT, and PIE be? Should I have around 40 or so for melee range skills like Phalanx?
Thaum Tank. Suggested to Rank up Gladiator to get the R30 Guild Trait Preservation. Get at least to R22 Gladiator to get the skill Cover. Then you can get the rest of the the Thaum Skills. Firm Conviction is good 20% Defense Buff while casting.
As for the Stat Allocation, Vit and Mind are good. Defense and Magic Defense. I wouldn't even bother with the other stats if you don't have a high Physical Level. Just put Vit and Mind to the same.
Skills. Use the weapon skills from Gladiator for attack and defenses buffs (Circle Slash is nice). They will do decent damage as Thaum and you need the extra defense of Obsess and Rampart. You will need to use Provoke of course. Then you can set Sacrifice for heals. Any of the Debuff will give you alot of Aggro, so equip a couple. Phantom Dart to build some TP and Damnation as a decent Nuke and you should be all set. If you already have protect and shell it's a good tool too. But if you're in a party, someone should hopefully already have it.
If you can get Sentinel up to R30 for War Drum it works well with Punishing Barbs too. Shield Bash and Aegis Boon are really good too.
Gear, Pot Helm/Circlet (whatever gives high defense) Acton, Leggings, Knecks, Shield.
Thaum doesnt need INT. go with Vit, Mnd, Pie.
depends on play if you are only party thm go PTY MND VIT but if u solo alot a good balance of your stats like = 12 STR 50 DEX 100 VIT 100 MND 100 INT 100 PTY is how I role. But again the games so open you can customize your way of playing any class.
r30 THM you get Shadowfall which is a beast for TP generation (requires 10k guild marks and r30 quest finished). TP moves can be chained together far quicker than spells for some quick AoE damage.
Self buffs from all jobs generate a ton on AoE aggro, so its a good idea to nab Ferocity / Raging Strike. These also can be used before TP dumps to do massive damage. Profundity falls in this category too, which you will most like have from Conjury anyways and can be a large burst of damage to get all the mob's full attention.
War drum (sentinel) only works once the mobs turn red it seems, so make sure you don't use that skill to early.
Wait. Why does a THM need zero INT?
Because most people playing a THM will never try to nuke the enemy, worrying more about damage over time spells and other status effects. These don't care how potent the spell is (INT), just how likely it is to stick (PIE).
There are of course exceptions to this common THM build, given how versatile the classes all are.

hey guys, i got a question about THA. As I've just started playing this game, how far should I take my THA's rank to before I start leveling another class for its suppliments?
You can grind THM into surplus then work on lower subjobs.

My default action bar (takes 3 macros, 2 for gear as well, shield is last thing i equip because Gaurd is annoying):

Generally on NM:
Focus on dots, your Levinbolt2 is a dot, feed it tp, use Deflction or Aegis every 30 sec, watch your HP and mobs buuf list, poison2 is lowest timer, so try to always have it on, barbs when its up, chainspell and shadowsear, switch shock spikes to stygian if mp runs low and no other aoe junk nearby. Be aware of your stamina, and dont spam. Good luck.
***If you are tanking, maybe other mages can buff for you and you can put voke/taunt there, as for the war drum being 5 action cost, it fits, just depends what you are fighting and what your role is.
The actions i listed i have equipped is my default macro, i change it up often manually to tweak. Quickstride comes off often, its just nice its macro'd and usually rdy.
