Because the entire rear combo line gets a bonus to crit hit. Blindside is nice, but it's a single guaranteed crit with a 1min recast (and dragoon gets that as well, minus the INT bonus).
DRG crit is significantly higher than MNK's. I would say with my Crit gear setup I am hitting crits 1/3 of the time.
I see what you're getting at, but agree with other posts. My DRG crit hits a lot, and though my MNK isnt geared like my DRG is, it doesnt crit nearly as much as DRG does or for as much as my DRG does. Chaos sometimes has almost every hit crit. Plus you can just equip blindside on DRG. Add that to a rear Doomspike for some fun. I think i saw that in a porn once? And not that a MNK cant out DD a DRG (depending on each jobs set-up) DRG seems to pump a bit more dmg out on Crits raising its spike dmg up even higher.
Not to throw something that has nothing to do with mechanics in and saying its the whole reason why, but: blindside does make sense for what a pugilist is supposed to be. Think of it like stunning a dude with a haymaker and using your speed you swing behind him and give a donkey-punch from hell thus blindsiding him.
I would gladly trade Dragonfire Dive for Blindside.
Useless AoE compared to Ring of Talons and Leg sweep even (Doom Spike to some extent if you actually position yourself for the piercing damage). Only thing Dragonfire Dive has over both is Fire attributes
Glad Dragonfire Dive won't be on 15 minute cooldown in ARR hopefully (considering in the GameCom video you see 2 Dragonfire Dives within a 9 minute span)
Wait wait wait...
INT is relevant to criticals?
In which way? Power or rating?
I wasn't aware of this.
Dragoon also has critical hits built into their combo whilst Monk just have either increased damage or a chance to render the enemy unable to use weapon skills.
