Reaching a broader audience with FFXIV

I must say that mat being able to use the mouse effectively is a major barrier to new players. If FFXIV wants to be able to pull in more people then it is going to need more accommodating controls. Most people are going to want to use a mouse and if a person cannot just sit down and start playing then the only people who are going to play are the ones who are still playing. I know people play with controllers and it is supposed to be on console at some point too but that does not mean that the UI should be this bad for anyone who does not do so. There should be a different UI for controllers than for the keyboard and mouse people. The game UI should not be totally based around it being able to be played on a console. It should be made for PC (since it is out for it) then ported to the consoles rather than this BS. FFXIV needs to reach a bigger audience than it is now and that does not mean being able to play it on a console but rather being able to play it well on it's current platform. The thing is that MMOs are normally for PCs because they are fast paced and you need fast reactions and a mouse is the only way to be that fast. FFXIV just feels slow and most people don't want to play a slow feeling game. I think that full mouse support would go a long way towards making it feel faster for the majority of people.
