Auto-Translations
Earlier yesterday I was trying to help people do an Aurum Vale AF run. After waiting 10 minutes of trying to get other people I found out that the leader and one other were Japanese. When we got to AV, we couldn't enter.
Now I tried to use Auto-Translation to ask them if they had beaten "Into the Dark" quest. then I noticed that it wasn't in my translation option, neither was ogre/deepvoid slave, or darkhold.
I felt so bad that I couldn't help them. Due to lack of time to help them, since AV is much quicker to do than an DH run I had to log out.
Now my question is, for a game that wants to you to play with other people with different languages. Why doesn't the auto-translate keep track of everything you ever do? Like when I see Deepvoid Mage, it's there now, but a week later or so and it'll be gone again. Why is it removed? Will it be changed in 2.0 to have all the monsters I encountered and locations I have ever been to permanetly in the translation log?
I still feel terrible for not being able to help them :c

I've wondered the same thing.
There's this silly system in place where if you've seen something you can auto-translate it. So if you've seen a mob, seen an auto-translate or seen a quest name then you can then hit the wondrous tab button to make it multi-lingual.
As soon as you log out you lose all of this information and your auto-translate dictionary has to start again from stage 1. So essentially the solution is to leave your computer on all of the time and never log off.
Seems a little over the top for such a small feature, doesn't it.

FFXI had this issue as well, and it annoyed the hell out of me, those FFXI was more of a Cap on the number of entries in the dictionary at a time, i heard the cap was around 200 and adding a new item purged the oldest non mandatory item from the list. FXIV seems to have no limitations on the number of stored terms, but dumping the list after you log out is seriously flawed. (imaginary font Sarcastica) Though looking at the new server setup, I don't think the dictionary will be much of a problem, I thank you SE, I Really do (/imaginary font)
