AF gear - upgradable too in the future?

I have just been wondering whether the job AF gear will be upgradable, too when the relic weapons will be so sometime in the future.
I couldn't watch the live letter/seem to miss important information quite often so I wanted to know if you heard something about this.

Personally I'd really like to see that happen because at least to me my AF gear sorta belongs to my job (I feel like it resembles the job best xD). But with all the rare and melded gears that overtake the AF gear it will probably be sorted out the one or other time by the player that looks for max stats.
Now with the relic weapons being upgradable too, wouldn't it be possible to do the same for AF gear?
(Never said it needs to be easy but just having the possibility to keep or eventuall reuse the AF gear later again would make me really happy. :) )

Why not just have new versions of armor that fit the same thing. Do you really want to look the same all of the time?

The game really needs a "dressing room/transmorgrifier" though.

Wouldn't a transmog system make people look the same all the time.. much like upgradeable AF? IMO, people can look however they want for as long as they want, I'd love to have my GC robe (which looks unfortunately like a womans blouse) look like my Vanya robe all the time instead

I think I remember reading there would be multiple variations of AF armor throughout the course of the game. And with the way the job questing system works, it would make perfect since. You obtain AF armor throughout your job quest line, so you automatically collect the armor because of that. When they eventually expand on that, you will be rewarded with new AF armor geared for even higher levels. So on..and so forth..

new level cap = new quests for jobs = new skills and AF for jobs

just like in FFXI. there be AF2 in the future but that's untel level cap increases.

What I'd like (for now) is the ability to socket my U/U gear so that I can put in materia. No need to go nuts and have it double/triple/quintuple meld things. Instead, just give us one slot so it can't outshine high tier dungeon/primal/crafted gear. Also put on restrictions such as only a craft of X rank can socket the AF of Y type. That way, if you want to socket and meld a certain piece of gear, you need to find a crafter of appropriate rank to socket and meld.
