Annoyance of a Completist

Hello all, I don't post here very often, although I know other members of my/our LS do *coughFalcuscough* so please don't judge me on that.

I'd like to say that I'm somewhat of a completist, I like to get everything out of the game, like in earlier FF games, getting/mastering all materia, then changing mobs in a submarine into stats increase items etc. or getting all GFs to 100 and all of the powerful things like Quake, Triple etc. x 300 to cover all stat improvements and getting all cards in different combos to max out collection score etc.

Further to that in FFXIV, I like to complete all the side quests, whether necessary or not. I like to beat all NMs at least once, even if I don't want the item. I'm sure there are many who share my views and do the same.

The achievement system further buoyed my enthusiasm for this. I don't like to cheat, however and I don't like taking advantage of a glitch for any gain. Especially as in many other games, when someone takes advantage of a glitch, their items/titles/characters can and have been removed.

When the 1st of November is upon us, certain achievements will no longer be attainable. One of these is the Garuda win (and subsequently speed win). There was a glitch whereby it was not very difficult to "BLM Burn" Garuda, and I would say at least 50% of "end game" shells on my server did indeed do this. I have no problem with that, or their gains, but I'm annoyed that I'm unlikely to be able to get this achievement before 1st of November because I didn't take advantage of the BLM burn glitch, thinking it was wrong. Not thinking that anyone who used it was cheating, but clearly it was an exploitation of a glitch, one that was then fixed. If there it was possible to still get this achievement (Garuda and speed run Garuda) after 2.0 release, I really wouldn't have a problem, I am not at all that bothered about the drops from Garuda, but as I work full time and am in the UK, so don't get to run events on US time... its unlikely I'll get the opportunity to run with a good group consistently to legitimately beat Garuda on a speed run before 2.0 and therefore the opportunity to acquire this achievement is gone forever. Get those who exploited a glitch will have it.

I'm not sure I'll get much support on this thread and most of you probably BLM burned your Garuda wins before the glitch =P but I wanted to say how, in turn, this seems like a reward for exploiting a glitch and a kick in the pants to those who want to do it properly.

PLEASE allow the Garuda achievements to be still acquired after 2.0 do the right and fair thing, SE.

Instead of sitting here complaining, why don't you find a group and learn the fight yourself? It shouldn't take more than a dedicated day, and a few stacks of DM5.

It's also pretty easy to get the speed run achievement, since it's a complete DPS-check anyways. I've gotten to phase 3 pretty easily, just by spending two hours or so repeating the fight. It's not that bad. You have a month and a half to get her down.
