So i did some searching, and couldn't find anything on this topic, so here it is:

Does an unused copy of ffxiv-Original count as ffxiv-ARR?

On amazon, the original ffxiv goes for 10ish dollars, but the ARR goes for 40ish dollars.
I still have a copy of ffxiv that i was going to give to a friend but never did so. What will happen to the 25$ i paid for it back when it used to cost that much?

Um, I think that if you gave your friend your copy he wouldn't be able to play it cause you have registered it on your account, sure he can download the 1.0v of the game but he wouldn't be able to get the 2.0v cause he didn't pay for the game.

Your 1.0 should count as a valid account. After all why would SE call for the 1.0 copys to be destroyed?

The friend code might not be valid anymore.

i think if u give ur 1.0 to some one before the launch of 2.0, theres no problem. If you install the 1.0 before 2.0 the only things you will have to do, like everyone else is to download the new version 2.0. But after 2.0 i dont know if it would work.

A kind of similar question popped up in my head today as well.
It's about the item codes from the 1.0 versions; I still haven't used them because my character was already high-lvl until I realized I have to put the item code in BEFORE creating the character.
So I've been keeping them for the time when I make a 2nd character which is at the beginning of 2.0...but will we be able to use those codes in ARR?
Please don't destroy my dream of a Garlond goggle Viera and a onion knight lalafell, SE :x

Use the codes now, they apply to all characters made with that account. ie. If you make a new character, they will get those items
