In regards to Jumping in 2.0/realm reborn

Anyone else kinda feel that while it's great functionality to have jumping available in 2.0, it would be preferable not to have everyone constantly jumping all the time everywhere?

Watching the gameplay videos that have thus far been released, every time someone jumped for no real reason other than simply for the sake of jumping it felt out of place in the general aesthetic of final fantasy games. Especially when the lalafells jumped, the relative height of their jump compared to their body height was really jarring to look at for me.

As I said, jumping is great for functionality. However, I would like there to be a slight animation delay put in at the end of jumps. Instead of jumping while running and losing no speed compared to someone who is running without jumping, it'd be nice if you took a small hit to your momentum. Nothing major, maybe only slowing you down by a tiny fraction after a jump. But however minor, it would prevent people from jumping constantly for the sake of jumping while traveling places, and only jumping to clear obstacles that would offer shorter pathing.

Maybe I am the only person that feels this way? What does other people think?

Jumps look fine if you ask me, nothing to obnoxious like a horrid plaster of crouching pixels in mid air.

Lol it does look silly at times but hey what can ya do? Perhaps it will die down once the game has been out for a while.

From what my friend tells me, everyone in WoW just jumps constantly all the time because "you need something to do with your hands while you are bored".

Having the jump slow down your speed sounds like a good idea, but another option could be to have a very short recast timer on it. Not long, but force the player to be on the ground for at least half a second before they can jump again. It'll look more natural that way.

If you want to play a game without jump, try chess... oh wait, you have to lift the pieces. It looks totally unnatural since they are made of wood and we all know trees don't jump.
