are the Relic weapons in FFXIV on par with FFXI in terms of power and LongTime Usage

are they worth making just wondering because many people from LS said dont bother since level 60 weapons will be better

I heard, and it was mentioned earlier by another member, that relic weapons would be upgradable. I believe there will be different types of relic weapons that will fit different playstyles, but lets use Curtana for example. That weapon is planned to still be useful 5 years from now.

I have read the same in a dev post or something like that; they will be upgradable.

are they easier to make than FFXI?

They'll most likely be able to upgrade.

My wish is for Curtana to upgrade into Excalibur. At least this way it wont hurt my inventory space!

Depends on point of view. FFXI were ultra-expensive and time consuming, right now we have a time-consuming with some difficult encounter inside. With a good group however you can make it somewhat fast

Well let's set-aside the fact that a level cap raise hasn't even been mentioned, and also ignore the fact that the level requirement of an item (especially in final fantasy mmos) doesn't necessarily reflect the items quality.

In the hypothetical scenario that they raised the level cap sometime before 2015, I feel like it's a safe bet to say they will offer some way to upgrade your relic weapon, just like they did in FFXI.

They going to be upgradable and keep being useful to the end of the game yoshi-p said that relic should be the most powerful wep in the game. Like Curtana would later become Excalibur by doing lot's of painful hard quest and the final step would be turning your Curtana into a powerful Excalibur and later it can be upgrade better and better. It's not like we going to have a lot of level caps rise so not so many relic updates. It be years before we even get to level 70+
