LMFAO.. nice, is all I can say, just nice. Listening to the sample tracks from the reps now.

I also find it funny, people complained about the voice-acting, so this is the XIV team's way of saying.. So you think you can do it better? Alright, show us up.

I hope every single person who participates and who also badmouthed the original trailer's voice cracks when you do yours. That would be fantastic. :D


Also..anyone who uses the voice over from the scratchy-throat sounding guy that does big cinema movie trailers. Wins. Just because, that'd be funny too.

The fact that they saw need for an alternate dub in the first place is something we should consider a small victory... :)

Can anyone explain to me what is going on here? Not seeing anything about this on the site. Or am I missing something?

You can consider it a win, but its really not, not in that respect at least.

They're trying to create an MMO for the players themselves, not just a business model to get more monies, but something that players and fans can actually enjoy and want to be a part of. Giving out contests like these, the ring for instance as well, allows players to contribute their own creativity to the game. Its not that the XIV team needs our input, they could just do what they want, or what YoshiP wants. Rather, allowing players to do things like this gives people the chance to do more than just play a game, but make the game part of yourself too.

I like it, haven't contributed to anything as of yet and I hate the sound of my own voice across a recording or intercom, so I wont be doing this lol But I like what they're doing.

Oh this is fantastic.

I personally find it to be a failure to host a contest, for a game that is spanning the regions, where only U.S. and Canadian residents are eligible. If they had separate regions, it'd be a different story. Perhaps it's only me that feels that way, but I am disappointed to see this happen.

It's the very fact that I can play with players from all over the world, which I find to be one of the huge strengths of XI and XIV. Thus, hosting contests where you lock out a large part of the playerbase, is something I find to be shortsighted and somewhat stupid.

Then again, I understand that there will be a large part of the community that does not share my view of it, and find my opinion to be shortsighted and stupid. I can live with that.

PS: While there are obviously laws to abide, they've managed to host other community contests that is not "region locked" so far. One of the main reasons this one isn't, is likely to do with physical prizes of monetary value (which is low enough to not require any legal filings in most states (incl. Rhode Island) and/or countries). It's not like they haven't managed to find a way to include all the regions in the past. Keeping it digital and non-monetary, they should be able to include the world the game services.—I think it's great that they are hosting a community contest like this, I am just disappointed to see them cut out a big part of the community.
