Some idea for Auction House system in a Realm Reborn

I don't know someone already put this topic up already but this is my opinion that Dev team might consider for implement AH system in a Realm Reborn.

Today, when I try to search and buy some item from market search. I found some dude putting their NQ item with maximum retainer capacity. eg.

name - sell price - quantity
xxx - 900 - 99
yyy - 900 - 99
zzz - 999 - 99
.... continue for 15 or more record.... then
trolldude - 10,000 - 5
trolldude - 10,000 - 5
trolldude - 10,000 - 5
trolldude - 10,000 - 5
trolldude - 10,000 - 5
trolldude - 10,000 - 5
trolldude - 10,000 - 5
trolldude - 10,000 - 5
trolldude - 10,000 - 5
trolldude - 10,000 - 5
... and the list for HQ is gone since it will show only 20 first result.

Me, I don't mind much since I don't want to buy HQ item anyway.. but for other ppl that try their hard to obtain that +1 item will suffer with this troll player that put this item in list for eternity..

If he is super troll, he'll use both of his retainers to sell those items for x20 records and there's no way the HQ item will go up in the list..

I hope the Dev will come up with the new design of AH that can display all items and maybe some AH system that flexible enough and prevent this kind of troll.

just copy the auction house of wow and others mmo , it works fine and is easy to use .

I enjoyed FFXI's AH system. I never really liked seeing the buy out price since it encourages undercutting.

if that is accurate, that one helluva tedious process to do just to buy an item
yes, it might be less hassle for seller (O RLY) but one helluva process for buyer (Y RLY)

SE need to separate HQ and NQ, like they already done outside ward. Surely HQ and NQ item has different database ID, but for some reason SE put it as the same item in ward

Why would you discourage undercutting? Why would it be bad if all things were a little cheaper? I don't post often, and most of my posts have been about the market system, just check my history and you will find a multitude of arguments why undercutting is great (among other market improvements and reforms).

I wouldn't say not being able to see what others' have their items listed for would discourage undercutting. I find that people will undercut far more drastically solely because they can't see what other people are selling for, and instead have to guess and hope for the best.

Yeah good luck with that. No matter how successful and awesome their AH is, people here won't want it for no reason other than the fact that it's from WoW.

Well it would of course be updated to a more convenient standard. Not exactly like XI's. A search function should definitely be added. The navigation menu should also be cleaner and easier to navigate through. The main factor to it is that the buy out price just doesn't appear to the buyer, yet price history is still there.

not knowing price is a bad thing
what if you dont bring enough money? I dont want to walk all the way to Uldah only because I lack one gil

Undercutting is caused and encouraged by basic economic rules and human greed, not the method by which players trade items between themselves. Undercutting was just as rampant in FFXI, you just didn't notice it because FFXI let you pay 70,000 gil for an item that was listed at 69,995 gil.

That's not the point though. Yes, people are undercutting for 69,995 gil yet it shows up for 70,000 so the other sellers don't notice. However the one selling for 69,995 gil doesn't know if someone else is undercutting him. However the lowest price would be really hard to find. I know it's impossible to cut off undercutting, however it is definitely possible to hinder it.

It's not really the problem of who sells their item faster, but more towards the fact that the value of the item is decreased. Take boar leather +1 for example. On my server it can easily sell for 60k each when there is one or two competitors. However, when other sellers see the price they begin to join the market, but in order to take advantage of the current price, they undercut so that theirs will sell the fastest. This in the end triggers a chain reaction, causing boar leather to go down to as low as 30k each in just a single day. That's a 50% price drop. Though you can still see that the demand of the item is high because even if it is a 60k or 30k, the boar leather still sells at an accelerated pace. Now what happens if you add the bidding system? Yes the undercut race will still happen, but the profit made from the item is not as affected as it was before.

I guess a better way of stating it is that it will still let undercutting happen, but the value of the item doesn't decrease as suddenly as it currently does.
