Free Login Rewards - Daily Scrips/MGP/Tomes for Signing In

Several other MMOs and mobiles have a login campaign. If you login, you get something miniscule, but you signed in so you feel inclined to do something in the game.

A few scrips or MGP or tomes would be a nice way to incentivize players who otherwise aren't signing into the game at all.

The community can't play together if they're not signing in. This would be a miniscule but rewarding reason for players to want to sign in every day.

I realize that people want content to play, but if there's no players then the added content won't be worth it.

What other incentives can you think of for people to sign in?

If there are login rewards the only thing players who would otherwise not log in do is logging in for the rewards and instantly logging off. I think there is no need to reward players for not playing. It would just feel like a chore to log in every day.

For those who want MGP could just log off in the Gold Saucer in front of the daily mini cactpot NPC and get up to 30,000 MGP for being logged in for one minute a day. For Scrips you could just turn in one collectable a day for a daily amount of Scrips.

FFXI tried the login bonus thing and I don't think it really had an impact on daily logins at all. The reason people log in to a game is to accomplish something, so tying the rewards to those accomplishments makes more sense.

I do like that they made the daily Stellar Successes very easy to achieve in cosmic exploration. Just do three gold recipes or one craft and a mech op and you're good to go.

I believe the closest thing would be the mogtome event thing.
An attendance box is unlikely to get people to do content if it's as simple as login and collect as the majority would likely just log-out after claiming the rewards.
It would most likely be no different than those that only pop online to refresh their housing timer, maybe run submarines and logout again.

I am perfectly happy with the fact that FFXIV doesn't act like a free to play game trying to monopolize my time in that manner.

I'd probably be fine with it if there was a LITTLE more interactivity to it beyond "show up, stuff goes right into your inventory/currency tab". At least make players go to where the rewards would normally be obtained for pick-up.

Mini-Cactpot tickets for example already ensure I log out at the Gold Saucer everyday, and more than once I've caught myself going "hmm, as long as I'm here..." and I drop into a GATE or wander over to the mini-games before I head off to do other dailies. Giving me a small amount of say... wolf marks I HAVE to go to the Wolf's Den to receive might make get me thinking "maybe one round" as long as I'm there. I might actually care to go visit the entrance to Palace of the Dead if you told me there's a few potsherds waiting for me, no strings attached (I'll even take a free Phoenix Down). Bonus points, I CAN'T go pick up the daily incentive from the other Deep Dungeons if I haven't unlocked them yet, so maybe I should finally go do Floor 50 of PotD if I want them. (Same with the rest, didn't unlock a piece of content with a daily incentive? You don't get the handout for it.)

Since the idea is getting people to log in and show up, it increases the chance of in-world mingling because you're not the only one who showed up for pick-up/may have decided to participate in the content for a little bit. So long as the rewards remain minuscule and don't trivialize actual participation (IE: no trophy crystals/collars for PVP log-in, no sacks/aetherpool for Deep Dungeon log-in, etc) it shouldn't hurt anything.

Daily login rewards are usually something you see in free-to-play games because they need to incentivize people to log in so they can entice them to spend money. FF14 is sub based so they already have your money whether you play or not.

Why not add a monthly battlepass for PvE contents?
We already have it for PvP.
