Let us augment normal raid gear
I usually play exclusively tank but sometimes healing is necessary but my issue is how difficult it is to gear another job on the fly, especially later in the patch, like week 12 of the savage tier.
Almost every party I'm interested in joining wants IL 775 or higher.
One of my gearing options is to acquire IL 770 gear through crafting or completing normal raids. My other more time consuming option is to spend tomes and extra coffers acquired through savage raiding that I may or may not have.
Luckily, I had enough currency to buy 2 normal raid pieces, 3 tome pieces, 2 savage raid pieces, and use crafted for the rest. I was able to reach IL 775 but unfortunately, the normal raid pieces are noticeably worse than crafted IL 770 gear making it a terrible option in every way.
I'd like it if we had the ability to upgrade normal raid gear from IL 770 to IL 775.
Here is an example of how this would work. Using the existing Heavy Holoblade item we can visit the <Gear Exchange> and trade in 1 Heavyweight Ring of Healing and 1 Heavy Holoblade to receive 1 Heavyweight Ring of Healing+1 (IL 775).
You could make it more elaborate if you wanted but as it is presented here this wouldn't require any new assets or interfere with the upcoming catchup gear such as alliance gear (IL 780).
It has always been a shame to me I couldn't augment normal raid gear and I think you could also let us augment the normal raid gear with new variant and criterion content. Imagine if you could augment it further such as Heavyweight Ring of Healing+2 (IL 780).
This change would make it enjoyable to gear multiple jobs during the savage patch without threatening the rest of the progression system.
Please let us augment normal raid gear from the moment the savage tier is available :)
