Free login campaign during worst DDoS & other maint streak? Just WHY?

Who are you even kidding inviting new players into FFXIV as a NA player?

Most likely to bolster numbers to make up for the people unsubscribing due to DDoS and other reasons.

Maybe they'll get players who arent technologically challenged to the point they cant install a free program to bypass the attacks. It's unacceptable how long it's taking them to fix but it's so easy to mitigate if these terminally online gamers actually knew how to use a computer.

They do this regularly. It's not for new players it's for players who stopped playing who already have accounts and to try and get them back.

Yes, those damn players and their *checks notes* inability to install third party tools to make a game playable. Surely they'll realize soon that it's their fault they can't easily play the game they pay expansion + subscription fees for without needing to tinker.

This would make sense if we were actually in a lull. We're currently in a population spike. Steam average for the past 30 days is the highest its been since Nov. 2024. The amount of actual unsubscribes due to the DDoS issues is probably far, far lower than any of us who frequent this forum might be led to believe.

It really doesn't make a whole lot of sense. But I bet the decision came from Japan where the DDOS attacks aren't a prevalent.

Come back to what though? Dawntrail is still totally mid and the constant DDoS makes what little there is to do unplayable most of the day for anyone in the NA region.

Wasn't there some news at a time that said it was the US provider they had a contract with that had problems? I mean a year long DDoS? who? Wow has long regain its place at the top of the food chain, the modders have found replacement to mare and seem to have learned their lesson. Who the f*ck would DDoS a game that is already regulary shit on by most of its playerbase.

Honestly, at this point SE bieng locked in a contract with bad provider seems more logical answer.

DT is leagues better than EW imo.

best combat, better raids, Sphene, less ascians, less emet.

ill take annoying Wuk over EW.
