I have had zero issues since I installed Cloudflare's WARP. It functions similar to VPN, but isnt quite one (plus its free). Using it seems to route the traffic away from the node's that has been giving us grief all this time. Which makes me inclined to believe that folks are right that this isnt a ddos. If it were, I doubt even a VPN would keep me in game. But, I'm not a networking expert, so I'll take their word for it for now.
Only thing that sucks is I dont think this works for PS5 users. Though you could probably use a proper VPN connection for that.
Unfortunately, you can't choose the node you connect to, so certain places in California itself still get routed through the DDoS node when using Cloudflare WARP.
It is a DDoS, but the attack isn't necessarily, directly on the server, but on a node that SE pays for and routes us through (because they pay for co-location in an NTT data center). Whether they are actually trying to send sophisticated packets that resemble FFXIV traffic or not I don't know, but I know that NTT offer services that allow you to analyze traffic and filter it to make sure it is authentic, and I am doubting at this point they are doing a good job at making sure the traffic is from an authentic client with an FFXIV account.Quote:

I think people on Cloudflare WARP can still at least get the disconnect icon even if they disconnect. Using ExitLag, I've disconnected once, while most others disconnected 20 times in the first 4 hours of savage release, so it shows that the instability on the server still has an effect even if you don't actually disconnect.
Plus, if even 1 party member disconnects, your experience is ruined even if you use Cloudflare WARP.
PS5 uses its own VPN as part of its service that many say doesn't get affected by DDoS. However, there was a Playstation player in my party earlier and they disconnected as well, so it is incorrect when people say that they never get affected by the DDoS.Quote:

I play on PS5. I almost never disconnect, but I do get massive lag spikes when attacks occur, which cause me failed crafts or the usual long-lag problems in combat content (killed by mobs or mechanics while you couldn’t control your character, etc.). So PS players are not immune to trouble.
