Any possible info about improving the block/mute system?

Blocking in chat is almost useless so far, as we still able to see (This message is from a muted character.) notification.

Or maybe I’m missing on about how we properly block someone to not see their messages appearing in chat anymore?

Blacklisting is fine; it's the mute messages system that isn't.

It's a problem because SE rarely implements anything in an ideal way. The usual scenario is "we're glad they're doing it, but x y z oversight that most other developers wouldn't have made". It's been brought up a lot of times at this point.

I can give credit where it's due though: the strategy board seems like it doesn't have any such oversight. A rare good implementation, and nobody expected it would be as good as it is, but it actually looks like the websites aren't particularly better than that feature will be, and that it even has multiple advantages over them.

My assumption is that they did it that way so that muting a player doesn't break the context of conversations. It's easier to see that other players are likely responding to a muted player if you can see that they sent a message (but not what they said). Not that great if the reason you muted them is because they were spamming chat, but it works well enough if you muted them because their messages were annoying but not worth blocking over. Though you'll still see blocked character messages in instances--I don't think you'll see them otherwise.

Click the gear symbol in the upper-right, and activate "Hide the affected message in its entirety".

And before someone asks about the term filters, the system is case-sensitive, so if you say put in the word "gamba" it won't block "Gamba" and vice versa. But "amba" takes out both.
