Weird lag/hitching in-game this past week?

So, I know there have been DDOS issues, but this isn't that. I've noticed that when I am visiting Aether and, to some degree, just being home on Dynamis, I am experiencing way more lag/hitching in-game than I've ever had in my 11 years playing.

I have 1GB wired internet. No issues with any other games, but this week I wasn't even able to complete roulettes because the lag/freezing was so bad (like all other players frozen for 15-20 seconds). Also, had delays in opening menus, market board, etc. It wasn't constant, more intermittent, but annoying just the same.

I asked someone if they had noticed, and they said, particularly on Aether, it has been happening. Just curious if anyone else has been experiencing unreliable connections, etc.

I am experiencing this right now on EU.

There was a particular hour, of a particular day almost a week ago, where all my actions were extremely delayed. This happened in both EU and NA, so I took it as being my own connection. Hasn't happened since.

It kinda started after the disconnects stopped. My running theory is that whoever suggested that the DDOS was attacking a node upstream of the login servers was right and this is what is causing the issues we have been experiencing, which then would not be an SE-problem but that of the ISP and would explain why SE has done very little to support the NA playerbase.

Playing from the EU on US servers in the evening has become almost impossible. I now regularly deal with ping as high as 6-9k, especially in bigger instances where more data flows between the client and server. While I have not been playing for that long I have been on FFXIV for years and it has never been a problem. Sure, I get higher ping than I would on EU but it has always been manageable. Made sure to check a few ping trackers and like clockwork every time I try to ping a server on the US side the connection takes a nosedive. Buddy of mine who plays through a different ISP from the same country has similar but less pronounced issues so it does point in that direction.

God, I hope wherever the issue lies gets remedied fast. It's just not fun to play anymore, and it's not even that game's fault. It would also be really nice if SE could just be transparent about what their issues with their service providers are. Being left in the dark to struggle is unkind and I'll be honest, being given no form of reassurance that this will not just keep happening indefinitely is not doing much to make me want to stay.

I'm just going to be honest do we have any proof its actual ddos happening ( i mean outside se saying it was) and that we arent having these issues because they refuse to get better servers and aren't really spending much "money" on having the best of the best for the servers etc.

Like a picture or something that shows its happening with the things blurred out (the info stuff) but just show us a ddos is happening, a company's word isnt good enough

As a console player, I'm noticing a lot of lag spikes and disconnects on both FFXIV and PSO2:NGS lately. The Playstation Network is acting up. Whether there are any other problems specific to FFXIV, I couldn't say, but it's worth noting.

I've had 4 different PotD solo runs ruined by either d/c or huge lag spikes in the past week, last one happened yesterday on the 154th floor. If this happens again, I'll transfer to a free EU world. I'm just sick of this.

I haven't noticed hitching but I've certainly noticed my ping go up immensely for seemingly no reason.

I play at 230 ping on a usual day and recently have been sitting at 290 or above for the last week or so, it's insufferable. I can't just go to OCE because I sleep at pvp high time and I'm trying to grind out my series rank before the next patch on two characters.

Edit: Further update to this. Log in this morning to suddenly find I'm sitting at 150 ping, but have slight hitches in pvp. I have NO CLUE what's going on anymore.
