Melded Gear in 2.0

This question is to the devs (or any in the community who are privy to the information).

Will melded gear remain the most powerful gear (potentially) in the game for 2.0? I recently purchased several pieces of melded gear after holding out for quite awhile. I will be heartbroken if melded gear was going to be adjusted in 2.0 in a way that would may it less powerful. I don't care if they adjust the values as long as the quality of the gear remains. For example, if they revise +30 STR to +3 STR, but its still relatively as powerful, that is fine. But if they become no better then other easier obtained gear I will be a sad panda...

As far as I know, yes. We will be keeping all of our items from 1.0, so anything with materia on it should transfer over.

We don't know the complete balance of the system beyond them making stat calculation more 1:1 with your base stats. Obviously a 4+ meld will still be pretty powerful but diminishing returns will be a lot more present compared to now you can boost as much as you want and still barely feel increases in some situations simply because of the level correction in place.

I moved the wording around as it seemed to imply something else. I know it will remain in game but will something that is double melded with say two +30 STR materia still be amazingly better than AF in 2.0 or the stats be revised in a way that makes that melded gear not as valuable?

As we seen in the demonstration the AF stats appear to be different which could have just been an alpha thing or it could reflect the new change to 1:1 where that small increase was actually a pretty good boost and going "too far over" won't do much for you after a certain point. Hard to really tell till they give us a lot more information.

Just concerned. Would be upsetting if you spent millions of gil on a triple melded piece for it to not as useful 1 month later.

As far as I know, your concerns are unfounded. I haven't read anything that stated that melded gear would change in any way. I'd certainly be more than a little off-put if it did. I spend TONS of time in-game going after melded items. I just got two triple melds in a row on some Cobalt Cuirasses on Sat, for example.

So they are nerfing gear, but not just melded gear. That post sounds like they are nerfing gear across the board to match the returns from stat allocation. So, if you've got uber gear from melds, it will still be uber gear, because the returns from stats on non-melded gear will be affected as well.
