Adventurer's at the end of the 6th Astral Era

I volunteer at a teen center running a DnD game twice a month for the kids. So I'm running them through the MSQ of FFXIV 1.0. The crazy thing about it is that these kids weren’t even alive when 1.0 dropped. I've run 4 sessions so far and the kids are Thal's balls deep into the lore already. They absolutely LOVE it. They spent twenty minutes on deciding which of the Twelve would be their Patron and what nation they would be from alone.Having said all that, I’d like to share with you their adventures. I’ll keep it to the essential beats of their adventures, as we already know who the various NPC’s are.

I have taken a FEW liberties with how the plot plays itself out. Kids having total freedom to do what they want means they don't follow an on-rails plot. By and large I'm keeping to the MSQ. If things are missing, its cause their dice roles were terrible. I'm only going to dumb the first 4 sessions now. The rest will come as they play over time. (assuming this post doesn't violate the specific sub forum). Hopefully yall find enjoyment out of their antics.

Session 1
N’ganni was hired out of Limsa to guard shipments from Vesper Bay to Ul'dah. The trip was so uneventful she was able to catch a catnap on the last stretch into the city. This was a mistake as she was still groggy on arrival and almost failed to notice the gobbue which had somehow gotten loose. With the assistance of a knife wielding Hyur bard and a Rogedayn thaumaturge, the gobbue was subdued. Sadly not before it severely injured several bystanders.

The thaumaturge introduced himself as Poisoner Ivac, a scholar from Ishgard. Both he and N'maggi were curious as to what caused the control ring to fail and the gobbue to go berserk. Following several leads, and a few conversations with a Miqo’te named Flahminn, they headed north to Camp Black Brush.

Session 2
Investigations into the goings on around Camp Black Brush and an individual named Corguevais led N'ganni to follow her own lead to the supposedly closed down Copperbell Mines. While trying to find a way in, she came across the path of the spoony bard, who introduced himself as Thancred. They found that not only had someone else gained access to the mine, but new shafts had been reopened. N'ganni chose to head to Vesper Bay through Horizon to try and hear the rumours from the local sailors.

Meanwhile, Ser Ivac returned to Ul'dah to research the syndicate's potential involvement.

Not following the drunken advice of sailors in Vesper Bay, N'ganni decided to investigate the rumors of disappearing adventurers around Cape Westwind. After getting severely lost, she accidentally stumbled upon a Garlean outpost. It was well hidden too. The outpost was well hidden by sea fog. Through the fog, she swore she saw two individuals, each in elaborate armor with outlandish helms, arguing over something she couldn't quite make out. Something about control, not outright destruction. The one in white made a comment about pots, kettles, and controlling his pet witch in Dalmasca.

When the fog lifted slightly, the two heavily armoured individuals were gone. N'ganni could have sworn the banner being flown read XIV, not VII. Neither of the two armored figures were there anymore so she decided to investigate further. Even with the fog, her stealth skills were lacking. She drew the attention of a squad of Garlean troops and had to dispatch them herself. It took a few minutes, but she eventually prevailed. Her attention was drawn to a strange black, metallic tower. It had a similar design principle to a lighthouse, but it was much too small. Moreover, it did not have a light on top. Using an arcane trick she knew, N'ganni enchanted herself to see the flow of aether. Surrounding the tower N'ganni saw six equidistant capped columns, each with the aura of a different element. Pouring out of the top of the tower, into the sky, was a grey-white light.

Session 3
Not wanting to draw further attention from the Garlean's, N'ganni snuck out of Cape Westwind and made her way back to Ul'dah. Her arrival in Ul’dah felt completely disjointed. Her vision became blurred as she dismounted, only to see a Flahminn grab a Chocobo and rush off in a panic. She didn’t catch the kids name but was felt compelled to help and chased off on her still rented Chocobo.

N’ganni was a poor rider of Chocobo’s unable to push the bird into a full gallop. Worse, when she tried to bring the bird to a rapid stop she went absolutely flying. She gained her wits just long enough to see Corguevais blow a horn summoning a horde of coblyns. It was a slog, but with the assistance of two others (Nielle and Greinfarr), N’ganni was able to defeat the coblyns. Only to suddenly have her vision clear and she realized she was still in Ul’dah. Having only JUST returned from Vesper Bay.

Session 4
N’ganni reunited with Ser Ivac at Momodi's tavern, they both decided to take in a show at the gladiatorial arena. They both made a decent amount off their wagers and decided to spend their hard earned gil.

Yet upon leaving the arena, they both started seeing double. First a woman in a long pink skirt and crop top, then a little girl. When they tried to clear their vision, they were met with something worse. The sky was on fire. They could hear screaming all around them. They could feel the preceding shockwave from the meteors. Just as suddenly as it started, their vision cleared. They could only think about what the vision meant.

Just as their vision cleared, a tall elezen man in grey black robes approached them. He said something neither of them could comprehend. He handed them a letter and left. The letter simply read “Pray thee make thy way to the Walking Sands.” With no answers on hand, they rented a couple of chocobos and headed towards Horizon; Ser Ivac had never been there and needed to attune himself to the Aethertye. Continuing on to Vesper Bay, both of them discussed openly about the stupidity of the Syndicate. Their refusal to install an Aetheryte in Vesper Bay was extremely inconvenient. After a lengthy discussion, they both agreed it would be too bloodly a conquest to remove all the offending members.
