Eorzeapedia Community Review: patch 1.16

Just gonna put this here, we over at Eorzeapedia put together a area where we review the patch and give our opinions and individual reviews on the patches themselves. Only have 1.16 currently cataloged, but if your curious as to what the Eorzeapedia community thinks of the patch so far.

6/10 is the general communities opinion on how good 1.16 is. Positives weighed in favor of the ease of lev synthesis, while negatives trended towards what some feel was "lackluster" implementation of quests.

Take this information however you want, just letting everyone know what we at Eorzeapedia think of the patch so far.

I liked the patch, especially the targeting system, and I sorta like seeing that squirrels are as big as dogs now :o

Too bad they are rating the patch on the face value instead of thinking what it means for the game in the long run.

Content is not what they should be focusing on, and it is clear from the patch that content is not what they're focusing on. Players are also giving too much weight to aspects they feel are negative instead of objectively looking at what was implemented and what it means for the game's future.

But it's not like Eorzeapedia should be taken seriously anyway.

Well, I'm not a developer and as such I do not need to take them seriously. Obviously making a big deal out of nothing will be more likely to get the developers' attention.

Hmm if your so disintrested in Eorzeapedia, what would you rate the patch? Just curious is all, if you check the thread on those forums out there are actually alot of good reviews and it was my choice to poll only the current patch as keeping meta data on the entire game per patch and how one would view advancing the score holds too many variables.

Most people agree the game has merit, and personally anything above a 5 means they are headed in the right direction in my eyes.

Yes, I have nothing against pedia itself. I just don't think his kind of scoring tells us whether the patch was good or not. There are way too many extreme opinions to come to a reasonable conclusion.

Personally, I see that the developers made a choice that needed to be made by increasing monster sizes. However, they went a bit too far on some families. Then there are smaller things like the aggro icon which is not bad in itself, but may be visually a bit too displeasing and can not be turned off. Also getting rid of character collision without breaking the game engine was quite a feat as well. The quality and quantity of content was not good enough as one could have expected from the beginning, as the development team is not focused on the content before a solid foundation of game mechanics is in place to support that content. Crafting adjustments were win all around, and gamepad targeting needs some polish but the largest work is done.

As you can see I would not rate the update that low, and considering what should be done vs. what they have done there is really little to be upset about in this patch. Nothing they do will be enough for the existing 30k or so active players, and the game is not even updated with them in mind at this point. SE has a bigger fish to fry.

I was a little disappointed by the patch. I loved the quests!!! I for some reason thought SE was going to add guildleves as well, I don't know where I got that from, and was disappointed when they weren't there. Honestly, I am tired of the same 4 leves per nation and 2 fieldcraft leves per nation. Its really getting hard to leve on the same leves. I also thought the level up fanfare, while small addition, still lack the final fantasy eye candy or at least lv up music. I leveled twice since the patch and funny thing was didn't notice it until I went to change classes. Overall a good patch, decent work for the size. Overall I gave the patch a 7. Its definitely moving the game in the right direction.
