Hey all, never had an issue playing this game on this same computer for hours at a time until yesterday. I am ok when in town Uldah and Gridania, but when I go outside of Gridania for anything more than two minutes my computer shuts off. I've read all about the heat problems etc but im not sure this is it. I've had no problems up to this point with this game and have no issues with any other high intesity graphics games. I have an Asus G73JH and I have blown compressed air in it already to remove dust etc. Not the most computer savy person, and was wondering if there is any patch related, software related known issues that are causing this lately?

It seem your laptop is overheating and outside gridania does make you load a lot of trees your best bet is to lower your setting if you have DOF on i would turn it off.

Just a word of warning, when this sort of thing happened to me, it didn't take too long before the video card was fried completely (and I couldn't boot the laptop again until I replaced it). Beware.

take out your video card and toss it in a even flow oven, than put it back in.

I would say temps too. Even if it was running fine things can get dirty. I ran the game great for a year then started having crashes everytime i played. I pulled the cover off and noticed cpu and gpu packed with dirt. Blew everything out and it ran great again. And yes other games ran good for me too but this game is very intensive on hardware right now, which is why they are rebuilding the engine instead of putting 2.0 on the old one.

it could be that your video card cant handle it or you power supply is dying. my problem was my power supply was very shitty and my computer would turn off. new stronger supply never shuts my computer off.
