[Feedback] Going for more Dark Fantasy style.

Not a copy of Heavensward expansion.

However with more mature themes and winter areas similar to Alaska.

What do you think?

We havent seen notable character deaths on the side of team good guys since Heavensward. Everyone's plot armor is so thick that this has been a problem for nearly a decade.

I mean if you are going that route, you can't die period, this is a MMO and the PC will never be in permanent danger, independent of their role in the story, even if the WoL somehow dies, it will only be done as a story beat to bring you back to life shortly after, sometimes you need to admit to the limitations of the medium and that so long as there is a need for us the player to run around the game world to our heart's desire, then we can't be permanently crippled in any capacity.

I will say I agree with you to an extent, but more because I find the WoL as the story presents them to be the most boring character in the entire game, being a complete and total blank slate who can never express any particularly strongly view on anything other than generic heroism, I would find the game to improve a lot if the WoL never delivered a final blow on a villain again.

For the settings I’m open to anything really, up until it’s coherent and immersive. I loved Stormblood settings and discovering cultures in Azim Steppe, loved witnessing Lyse being real about herself not being a good leader and such.. and that’s what I need more in this game

I know it will never happen again because of how entitled people are, the need to feel special, but still hope they’ll find a middle ground between making WoL special, alongside someone else.

Nobody has the issue with not being the main character. The issue was that we barely existed at all and were just babysitting the poor excuse of a character known as Wuk Lamat.

It was a problem with Zero, too, but even though people complained that she was monopolizing the story, Wuk Lamat cranked it to 11 and unless you adored her, DT was a slog.

I genuinely think the writers wanted each future story arc going forward to be us accompanying a new NPC on their adventure, only for the first one to be a big case of meh and the second one to be outright reviled by vocal players.

The thing is, we DO need to be central to the happenings as our WoL is how we're interacting with the world. That is just how it works.

Actually a death could appear and also it could be useful.
Instead of grinding till we reach level 999 - we could after the death level up once again imagine a blue level bar till 30 for example with a story made around that.

It all depends if the XIV will stay so restricted due to age restriction for now I think its made to be for 12 y old kids?

tbf if you thought the negative reaction to DT was bad you won't believe the future reaction if SE killed the WoL or scions for MSQ.

WoL has scant main character potential. +1 to centering the story on someone else.

they only seem to know black and white. we arent the mc? that means we are just an extra.

especially with a character who doesnt talk its so easy to become a pointless extra.

I want a bleak cold expansion as I really hate the Summer. DT was nothing I really enjoyed from the shit trailer song and from the beginning it just looked bad. I hope it is cold and plenty of ice and snow and more fantasy akin to Heavensward.
