New Player - RolePlayer questions!

Hello one and all. So I finally have a computer that will play FF14, much to my delight. 30 day trial ahoy.;)

I have so far made 4 characters, two Elezen, a Lalafell and a Miqo'te. But I can see that being trimmed down as I go and the free trial comes to an end. Initially all four were rolled on Ragnarok, but I promptly moved over to Aegis as I prefer the name.

But before I crack on with the leveling and getting used to the game, I have a few questions.

Is there a designated 'RP Server' or a server that simply has more RP than others? Every other MMO I've played (WoW, LotRO, etc) I've always thrown myself on the RP servers and realms as I find their ethos much better. But the server list in character creation doesn't appear to distinguish between the realms except on the population front.

Another question would be, if there is a 'RP server', what location/s am I more likely to find RP in on that realm. Or simply, where am I more likely to find RP on my current server - Aegis.

The RP server is Balmung. As for where you might find it, the miner's guild in Ul'dah is popular, but the vast majority of RP happens in RP linkshells, so try to find one.

As Urthdigger said, Balmung is the unofficial RP server. You can find a list of Balmung linkshells here, there are some RP ones on that list aswell. Happy hunting!

Balmung, as they've already stated, is the "unofficial" RP server. There is a FFXIV RP website here and I figure for the hell of it, I'll just put in there, that the Linkshell I'm in, T.A.L.E. is totally awesome. ^^
