My Little Healing Guide - 4 Dungeons

Positioning

As a Healer. you should be with or on your tank at all times. be ready to heal when needed to at all times. need to keep yourself within heal range at all times ( this does not mean max range) sprint use it when tank uses there stay with your tank no matter want. toss out your dot on many monsters before the tank finishes there massive wall to wall pull. pay attention to the cool-downs they are using remember 60/90/120 normally those are timers defensive cooldowns function on if a dark night hits tbn try using aquaviel

in your party need always keep yourself with "3rd" part of the party. meaning your aoe heals need to hit everyone with radius when need to. sometimes yes you get a bard or a blm likes stand away out there in nowhere . when really don't need too boss will target them regardless where deside to camp but i regress healer adjust

Move As a Healer you move do not stand still unless your casting and studder-cast. not moment do not use "Sprint" not single useless ability in your kit. even thou seems niche - using sure cast to block - knockback mechanics. do not stand in aoe. as healer only damage you should take is aoe spam or least avoid all form of telegraph attacks

DPS Everyone in this game is a DPS by no means should you ever heal bot. sure keep your tank alive. but have alot of time to DPS too this game make sure of it. sitting there waiting for your tank to take damage is not something you should do ever.

as much people say your one button casters its not true. you do cast glare ect alot but also press other buttons too your dot. your pom. assize glare IV weave if your white mage. you have understand how to use your damage kit when to use it. some damage better then no damage. green dps in dungeon just as helpful as it is in raids.

Do Not Die Please
as a Healer Dying no reason what so ever should you let yourself die. if you can heal it heal it. don't heal a DPS over keeping yourself alive. remember DPS players specially melee ones have healing abilities too. most of the time they, but if you choice to let yourself die to heal or raise party member this isnt gonna help party in the long run. if you die in a dungeon you either clearly not paying attention, trolling, having panic . no reason what so ever should you die in any dungeon content. if that happens then no one fault but your own. its learning experience so get back up try again


Pay Attention Tanks Cooldowns this is minor it is helpful. pay attention to what cool-downs tank is using. adjust as needed. cure II spam is not bad thing should only do it if you run out all other opinions, monsters are immune to holy stun. and need time before start your off global cooldown heal chain again. it happens sometimes when you've mistimed your heals. or tank you have isn't proparly using there cooldowns and have put more effort in or dps is lacking so have put more work in . but other wise should never have to cure II spam as whm . others healers bit different. this is mostly for shield healing cause if put shield heal while there defensive cooldown is active it really strong. how ever pure healing just stacking healing over time effects and using ogcds keep tank toped while using damage spells inbetween is best

Going Out of Mama this should never happen period, this game gives you enough tools. help manage your mp control the flow of mp out put. keepin your MP balanced is also part healers role. even lucid dreaming has pretty short cooldown down other healers have other opinions too. this also can be determined by amount piety you have but no this should never happen.

Lock-in when you enter dungeons or any player content you need not be lazy you need lock-in. no chatting no typing pure focus. pay attention to health parts contribute to dps go ham. moment that queue time pops lock-in getting distracted mid dungeon letting your tank die is no excuse for it. not tanks fault or dps fault if not vigaliant enough on your healing its yours. but unlike other classes other people die and pay for your mistakes. so need too focus as healer. other wise its really disrespectful to people your partying with

Make No Mistake Healing Job isn't a place for someone who wishes goof around find out. so have try harder then any other class not to make any mistakes. so learning mechanics quickly learning to say no to taking any dodgable damage. contributing anyway you can rather be with utility. damage healing or get out of those red-zones you always be casting something

Snap Shotting
In Boss Fights you notice tank buster animation. if your gonna reduce the damage of that tank buster then need to be quick about it. if you are slow tank uses it before animation finishes then damage reduction of aquaviel or divine benison will be ignored. i know seems weird but it happens once get hang of it . even when tanks have prep def cooldowns before busters happen. cant be too slow with this. same goes for healers

You have be to fast

Rescue
This is probably hardiest skill to master as a healer. do not troll people with this ability trying save someone while still in firing range is hard thing to do. best way to do it is predict it before it hands target the player and rescue. or if have whm gap closer. you can rescue someone mid or during your gap closer. pulling them and you into safety this requires godlike reflexs not easiest move to pull. takes years of practice to even use this skill effectively some dont even bother with it cause it can be highly punishing when not used right or fast enough make you look like your trolling


Esuna Do not ignore this ability you you be using it alot or should be using it alot. main enemy to any healer hard cc <paralyze> or <slow> or Kill you damage over time effects. some effects cannot be removed by esuna vast majority of them are.


Stutter Step Casting do not need stand still full cast time of holy or glare or any spell with it. if master this you can dodge any thing while still getting damage spell and heals of while moving. sometime you learn master if you play caster jobs but takes long time to master but once you do. way it works is that if you start moving at around 0.4 or 0.3 cast time left you spell shouldnt get disturbed and get to move out the way fast enough. animation doesnt determine if the spell goes off or not its casttime itself this can cause some confusion for new player

Swiftcast do not need save this ability to primary raise people. you can use it for on hardcast like medica II followed by regan while tank is pulling . shouldnt worry about aggro if tank is good enough they hit aoe ability once or twice nothing take it off the tank. unless they are being goofy all healers should use swiftcast someway or form. not primary saving it for raise. most of time you want to use it with big cast for white mage its thin air swiftcast + cure III (before everyone scatters so they get big aoe heal)

Surecast Surecast is first effect is pointless however the second effect is powerful. making your character immune to knock backs is really good vs bosses 50+ with knockback mechianics where you can just down right ignore it. snap shotting also applies here have to use it fast enough or it game wont register you using it before ability goes off also use white mages gap closer to negate knock back effects while using it mid knock back

Do not spam uselesss Healing spells for white mage spamming medica. cure or cure III is worse thing you can do cure and medica is a noob trap. and cure III should only be casted when need it only once. while under effects thin air

DPS Macros
Having Trouble DPS and Healing at the same time

/micon "Spell name"
/ac "Spell Name"<tt>
/ac "Spell Name" <t>

allows you stay focus'd on the tank and dps at same time then coinstantly switching targets. these probably only macros you need. better just free press rest of your kit

The problem with rescue and why a lot of healers don't use it it's because way too many people just simply see it as trolling even when you're doing it right. The moment you use on someone they're immediately going to think that you're griefing and you risk getting reported for it.

And it's pretty ironic that an ability called "rescue" is more hurtful than helpful

This has never been a problem for me or any healer I was around. This makes me belief it's a problem that's either server-specific, or based on a specific group or clique. Reporting for rescue? O.o

Its the speed it watch rescue has to be used. it take seasoned healer to get used too. lets take it from someone uses the controller. have go through the whole time target the team. member -rescue- of course players gonna move faster then you pull off a rescue. let say mouse and keyboard pretty much same. click on person want to rescue - rescue

good concept but not everyone can do it right away. specially sometimes when drag players through the aoe your trying save them from. this has to do with positioning


rescue is one of those skills not everyone can easily pull off without continueless practice and good reaction time

Just because it hasn't happened to you doesn't mean that it doesn't happen. Some players just just hate being force out of position. I actually had someone threatened to report me one time because I rescued them out of a spot that they were going to get hit by, but they got pissy with me for "pulling them out of a safe spot" when it wasn't safe.
That's a prime example of me using it the correct way, but yet still getting in trouble for it.

And unfortunately a player can report you for griefing even though you did nothing wrong.
That's why I removed it from my hot bar and don't plan on using it again.

sounds to me they were ones griefing besides shouldnt care what others think . people hate on me all the time specially on these forums. but i dont care cause haters gonna hate. i live my life happily dont effect me at all. one report from toxic idiot isn't gonna get me cause 30 dungeons later i have about 30-60 coms. cause ppl love skill as healer.

Tanks Tanks very special individuals who delight in there own suffering. they love it so much that they beg healers heal them so they can suffer some more. no matter how many times cast a heal some on them they cant help but get themselves hurt for own thier own plessure. they like be pummeled and stepped on. try piss you off for own twisted views.. some tanks even heal themselfs. i can make nasty joke out of that somewhere but I will not

DPS instead of actually playin there job there ones normally typing in groups in dungeons. complaining about what others do how they playing there job report this or report that. to busy focusing others then there own rotation and there primary reason wipes porbably happening cause not enough phew phew. there that lizard meme going around there he keeps pushing one button says blizzard. out of all special breed of players in ff14 this one most special cause there most common one says "You dont pay my sub" or most toxic these unique species as healer your job to emotional damage them as much as possible. rescue them out of there laylanes. or into boss aoe. to show how much you actually care about there ...., um input. show them you are someone not to be messed with. by saying im sorry i pushed wrong button. then go back doing into pushing it again.

I am trolling this here in this post is a joke. really dont troll ppl with rescue even if it is funny watching someone get mad over a game

Macros execute one line per frame, from top to bottom, and they cannot be queued, so it is better to repeat the /ac line as many times as possible and place /micon in the last line. Doing so will help reduce DPS loss. If you repeat /ac 14 times and play at 60 fps, it will give a pseudo-queueing time of about 0.23 seconds.

This macro still has roughly a 50% chance of losing one frame's worth of time. An alternative is to use <le> instead of <tt> or <t> where <le> refers to the last enemy you targeted. This version requires you to target an enemy once. The macro below makes targeting easier.
