New relic stage is great, but...

I love that they have brought crafting back into the relic process. It's been too long since relics truly felt like something earned by being top-tier at all of the the more casual aspects of the game. The first step introduced with patch 7.31 very much feels like an old-school ARR relic step, which is amazing.

However, I was a bit disappointed that this amazing momentum did not carry over to repeated relics. I would gladly do more crafts, spend gil, do fates, or re-grind the light stage for subsequent relics!

I understand wanting to provide flexibility by using tomes, but for me, it is more motivating to be told "to progress this relic you must complete tam-tara deepcroft hard" vs "just do whatever". I know it is more efficient to assign roulettes and meet demand as well.

My ideal compromise here is something like my favorite system in game, Wondrous Tails, where you're given duties or categories of duty to complete. In other words, ARR books :3 (with more engaging duties instead of leves)

If only the light-step was "do this thing" but it's actually just limited roulette spam.
The tomestone grinds issue wasn't that its "do whatever" it's that it forced you to save your tomestones for the relics and still feel liming limited on what you can do within the games content.
Even with tomestones your stuck in duty finder or you're doing hunt-trains, thats it.

Imagine a scenario for example where instead of doing duty roulette for lightfarming you could go back to eureka and do elemental monsters there for small progression or back to bozja.
Or heck literally anything else than the god damned duty finder.

I actually like that the light step directs me towards specific roulettes!

I don't know how anyone would like this, especially considering other relics did the same gods damn thing in the past and the devs fixed them for a good reason.

You aren't excited to make new trial players feel like the game isn't dead? I for one am so excited that SE sees me as barely more than a trust minion!

IMO, much better than if it was about current or EW alli raids. I’ll take LOTA any time over the current alli raid that absolutely lacks alliance mechanics. Yes, even 22 times. And since i don’t gear up any other job than WHM and roulettes are useless for me after gearing up WHM, I’ll happily do a certain duty even 50x while working towards something I actually care about / work towards.

I'm fine if there's a tome step for those who want it. I'd rather repeat the quest for each relic by choice than use tomes so it sucks that's not an option.

Doesn't mean that others are having one as well. Instead of them doing something creative they again slap a bandaid solution and go: "how about they just do roulette since they say that queue times are big... this should fix it + we don't have to develop anything".

Nobody freaking loves to spend their time doing same thing over and over again like a maniac. Unless you are botting and leave your pc afk which people do a lot in alliance raids. Shows how much "fun" this content really is.
