Switching home nation/Grand Company?

I know that we cannot currently do this (right?), but has there been any mention in all the info coming out regarding this?

For example, I chose Ul'dah as my home nation after going through all three nations openings in Beta and also because it reminded me most of Bastok from FFXI, my fav nation there.

Then I became a Marauder, but my Guild was located in Limsa Lominsa, so I went there.

Finally, I did all three Grand Company stories until I had to pick one. I actually liked Gridania's more, but I was still a Marauder and so I just went with Maelstrom in Limsa Lominsa. However, I stopped Marauder and switched to Lancer when Dragoon finally made its debut (my favorite)... which is all the more reason I really feel I should be aligned with Gridania.

Heck, if I could change both allegiance and GC, I'd pick them now. But I can't... yet.

Has there been any talk even of this kind of switching? I wonder how it'd work, if you'd lose rank and seal progress or something. I remember losing Conquest Points when you switched nations in FFXI, as well as accrued guild points when switching crafting guilds (although that was for crafting).

Just thought I'd post about it with all the talk of new stuff and what not.

I hope you're able to rank up all the GC in 2.0, albeit unlikely.

Only Limsa Lominsa was available in alpha/beta iirc

very unlikely. it doesn't make sense to be an officer in 3 different military's

they've hinted you will be able to switch GCs, but you'll lkely lose, at least, all of your points. I would also guess that sanction equipment will no longer give a bonus with another GCs sanction. and probably a nerf to any set bonuses

Even so, if you're able to keep your gear I'm alright with this too; I just hate being restricted to certain gear.

My hometown is Ul'Dah, then joined the Maelstrom in Limsa Lominsa. I think it would be awesome to arrive in Gridania after I was sent to the future.
