Suggestion: Phoenix Down and SMN/RDM raise. (SMN/RDM Buff)

Trying to keep it short.
SMN/RDM raise having the same restriction like the new Phoenix Down. (Usable in combat only in 4-Player/casual content/DD/Open World + maybe exploration zones like Bozja, Eureka)
SMN/RDM raise cooldown. (Same cooldown as Phoenix Down, cooldown resets upon leaving combat, no cooldown outside of combat)
in return SMN and RDM could get some love dpswise to close the massive gap between BLM/PCT and SMN/RDM. No more "raise-tax".

While we are at it: Please give PLD the same raise aswell. :p Wouldnt hurt and would be a "buff" towards the job-fantasy of being a paladin.

Or perhaps this is just a precursor to removing it altogether. They have been debating its removal for a while now.

Or just leave their rezzing capacity as it is, but remove any raise tax. It's silly and unnecessary.

I get a lot of use out of the caster raise in raids, if they remove it I expect to be compensated with much bigger damage numbers

Right now, raising people and being the pillar that drags people through content you'd otherwise wipe on feels like the sole reason to play RDM. The class has otherwise not really evolved at all since it's introduction in SB - it's just gotten a longer final combo.

This isn't an argument against phoenix down in 4 man content, far from it... but with it, red mage needs a new raison d'être

I unironicly think that RDM being the same since its introduction in SB is a good thing. While im not a fan of the 2 additional melee combo finisher is RDM one of the few jobs that never lost its core identity. (Casttime manipulation with Dualcast, ect)
RDM was by far not known only for its raise, especially in SB. Its was known for being easy to pick up and play even in high difficulty content.
Nowadays, RDM is by far not the easiest caster and in some situations even the hardest to pull off correctly. e.g. TOP Bluescreen Phase. While a BLM that always had its identity of being the turret that never wants to move can play this entire phase without losing a single cast, RDM on the other hand is the class that struggles the most in that phase and is for lesser skilled players almost unplayable.

So SE has imo 2 options.
1. Remove the raise and bring RDM in line with BLM/PCT. (dps-wise)
2. Leave RDM how it is but up the difficulty on BLM/PCT to recover RDM's identity of being the caster that is easier to play than the others.

red mage should be able to apply buff and debuff same with healers.


but if both gain those red mage should have like magical debuff and the Meller could debuff and dots like the dots being the debuff.

RDM was known for 3 things* really in FFXI (at least when I played). Powerful debuffs, dispelling beneficial enemy effects, and refresh (providing others with MP regen.) While I'd love to see them incorporate powerful debuffs and/or dispelling beneficial enemy effects, I am hesitant they'd ever find a way to incorporate them without being either so weaksauce they don't really make a meaningful difference, or so overpowered that RDM becomes mandatory.

*If there was a 4th thing they were known for, it was the borderline psychotic level of difficulty involved in their class level uncap quest.
