Quest Give Back my Precious: how to retrieve ring?

Hello All

I hope my question isn't too stupid, but I have a problem with that quest: I can't understand what I'm supposed to do.

There are loads of Elder Syricta around and I have already killed a bunch of them, but nothing dropped.

I have noticed that the cursor changes from standard arrow into a sword icon when I mouse over them: Do I have to do a special action on the elder syricta when the icon is a sword? But then what? Because I have tried to left click and also to right click, in both cases with no results.

Or is it just a matter of killing them again and again until the ring eventually drops?

Although I am not sure what quest you're on, if a quest specifically tells you to go and kill xxx of a monster to get an item like a ring, usually the item will actually drop automatically upon completing the objectives, and usually is not a normal item or an equippable piece of gear, but instead is a key item that will automatically appear in the Key Items list of your inventory. You can also tell if you've gained the key item by simply looking at the Duty List and see if the objectives have changed to 'return the <insert item name here> to <insert NPC's name here>' or something.

Either way, I think you may already have gained the item but it's not a piece of gear like you're used to, but a key item that is added to the inventory automatically when you complete the objective. So check your key item list and see if the item is there.

It seems it's a random drop. The two videos I watched it took them 5-6 kills to get it.

Based on your replies, I returned there and after killing 2 of them, I got it... When you think that the day before, I killed about 6 and got nothing... Lucky me!
