Didn't we already know this? Beta will start sooner for PC with PS3 beta coming around December?
I can confirm this indeed. Today at Gamescom Yoshi said Alpha testing starts somewhere in september and beta will be during the winter.
Does anyone know who will be considered for Beta testing a) the PC beta, and b) the PS3 beta?

So in other words, those who get in are going to be testing an alpha and this supposed "beta" is going to be open in December?
Going by the guideline, aug into sept is suppsoed to have 'radical changes to the ingame world' and such, which is ongoing now, with the last patch having gone life and lettered patches coming out now. Alpha goes on in sept, Closed Beta should start after that, with the current servers coming to a close at the same time so that would fall between october-november possibly early december with open beta (in the winter everyone will be able to participate in the beta) coming in the rest of winter before the true relaunch... I see that happening.
