Expectations for Occult Crescent?

I'm somewhat excited for the upcoming Occult Crescent patch update! I love FFV and the phantom job really got me hyped for it, plus getting a new way to play with others in an open field environment is neat! :D

So I was curious to hear other people's thoughts on it (either what we know so far or speculations)! :)

What are your expectations for it? Will it be good? Will it be bad? What part are you excited for, if any?

I am expecting to feel exactly like Eureka, with the improvements made to the action system by Bozja, I expect there to be something like CLL and Dalradia, and an instanced raid like Delly Regina that you can que for.

Ultimately I am outright hoping it is not particularly innovative, I simply want an area like Eureka and Bozja, but I am at level 100 instead of 70/80, and I have a new progression system to tackle, I personally think those are some of the best content in the game.

I once stepped into one of the other field operations (can't remember which one). It sucked, so I left and never returned.
I will take a look at the new one, but when it's like the others, I doubt it will entertain me longer than the other one (I just can't stand game modes, where the game takes something away from me when I die - exp, equip, whatever).

...okay I am joking, but seriously, while I agree with you typically, I never found it to be that much of an issue in XIV, Eureka you never lose XP if you don't Return, and people have always been very kind about that and gone out of their way to rez people in the most hostile environments imaginable and I've responded in kind when I was capable of doing so, just going "Can I get a rez? <pos>" in Shout chat is enough, and in Bozja you can straight up never delevel, I imagine Occult Crescent will be at least similar to Bozja in that regard where deleveling is impossible, I would still prefer if the penalty wasn't looming over my head at all, but it also isn't *really* there in the end of the day.

When years ago the game stole my house, I yelled some very dirty words at my monitor, deleted everything on my first account, and rage quit :) It took 2 years for me to return, and now I simply ignore housing at all. This is definitely a personal issue of mine - I just can't stand when a game starts taking away what I earned myself.
But you're saying this doesn't happen in Bozja at all? So it seems I stepped into Eureka, and then didn't even look at Bozja when I stumbled into it years later. Another good reason to give the new field operation a chance at least ;)

This is about where I am.

I actually popped back into Bozja earlier this week (one of the streamers I watch, Caffeinated Dad, was heading into it for the first time) and immediately got roped into a CLL. With the wrong actions assigned for a healer, oops.

I forgot how much I genuinely enjoyed the grind there. I finished ALL the Bozja weapons, I had like 7 DPS shields, and I was only missing one set of field notes - that's actually why I stopped going in, I was so discouraged and burnt out from having to solo the fire mage FATE chain trying to get the last thing I needed to be done with the zone forever.

The only thing I liked in Eureka was the maps and in Bozja, was CLL and Dalriada (+ story). They said it would be taking the best parts of both (but what is "best" to them, really?), so we'll see. As long as I can just go through the story without grinding mobs or stupid fates on the map too much I think I'll survive.
I'd like to see the next CLL/Dalriada if there is any. With a little copium it's not gated behind the basic grind like it used to.

I'm expecting low effort Bozja cut and paste with little deviation aside from the phantom job system. Would love to be proven wrong.

Fair warning, but you can lose mettle (Bozja XP) when you die and lose even more when you use Return to respawn by yourself, however your rank is locked in so you are never able to rank down. Realistically the worst that can happen is reach 0 mettle and grind more to reach the next rank. ^^"

There was a panel on the last PLL that showed that you are safe up until level 5 knowledge, afterwards deaths can result in level downs. :(
