Having trouble with lag spikes

I hope this is the right area to post. Please forgive me if it isn't.

I'm having trouble with severe lag spikes recently. Now, my connection has always been a little laggy; that's bound to happen when you're connecting to the Japanese server from Europe (I play on this server with my brother who has friends there). I'd get the occasioanl lag here and there, but nothing too much to worry about. It was playable.

However, the lag has never been THIS bad! I tried to a dungeon using the trust system, and all the characters and enemies are teleporting around, attacks aren't working, then all of a sudden everything happens all at once, attacks damage and all. I dread to think what would happen if I tried to do a raid or something.
