STOP HAVING CASTERS FORCED TO GROUP 2

Since the release of FRU,in all high end content, casters have been forced into the R2 position and phys ranged forced to R1. Why is this the case? Every fight/tier/ultimate it doesnt matter which group/position they are in. Most fights will have caster go to one spot and range to go another (it will be role based and not group based) but this second tier of savage has most raid plans where caster is SET to R2 and phys ranged set to R1 with no variation instead of phys range role and caster role. I am the only one that hates this?

There’s people that only ever want to be in a certain group, and others who are fine with adjusting. If you really want to be R1 then ask the other ranged player. A lot of times it will be fine.

But if you can, try getting used to both R1 and R2 in case you’re playing with someone who wants R1 but doesn’t want to adjust.

If you're in a static, you can just ask. I play Physranged on R2 because I just do better on the right side of the arena for...some reason. If you're in PF, you can ask. A lot of the time, people are willing to adjust. I do recommend learning the mirrored position, too, though.

Funny, in my groups I ask, and they just discuss it and usually everyone is fine?

Just talk to the physical ranged? They're in R1, if you both want to swap, nothing the group will do about it. There is a certain default assumption, sure. The regen healer is by-default H1, the shield-healer H2. The phys ranged is R1, the caster is R2. For the tanks, most tanks intuitively go maintank as Warrior, the other three usually don't care either way. In any case, you just talk about it.

Unfortunately, especially in FRU, not so much in savage but the phys range will almost NEVER know R2 even though its almost the same. Ive been kicked from partys after just uttering that i want R1. The other range response will be something like "no why would i know r2" or just straight "no youre r2." on top of that the rest of the party members who have no idea how to play ranged will be like "youre caster, you have to R2" and just dog pile on me and eventually kick me for trying to be R1.

Yeah i am in a static and the point was brought up last night "why dont you just R2" my responce being "it has literally never been an issue before FRU came out" and now all the strats being released force caster to r2 so phys ranged are getting comfortable being R1 and will not adjust most of the time

If a raid has R1 and R2 be basically the same, and people can’t adjust, then that’s a skill issue, but a fair one to have. I was personally bad at it until I made myself practice and get better at adjusting. If you’re trying to get something done and both people are uncomfortable with being group 2 then it makes sense for the party to find someone else. But of course people shouldn’t be jerks about it.

If both of you prefer R1 then one of you has to adjust as you learn, and the static should keep in mind that the person adjusting might make some extra mistakes as they get used to it. It’s a little strange that a static has two people that specifically want the same spot (like if you have a tank that only wants to do MT, you ideally wouldn’t recruit another that only wants to do MT), but you’re gonna just have to figure out who adjusts. Or else one of you has to leave the static.

What makes you unwilling to do R2? If you have old habits that make you not confident, I suggest that you be the one to pick R2 so that it gives you practice adjusting and makes you better at it. I forced myself to learn by doing DSR as OT after progging and clearing it as MT, and swapping back and forth while playing with friends, and during that I had to constantly remind myself which one I was.

It sounds like you’re not willing to do R2 and are hoping for it to always be “correct” for caster to be R1. But things aren’t going to always work out that way, as you’re seeing already. How you deal with this is up to you.

For the question of why is this the case I would assume it's for comfort zone for the majority. If someone plays regen healer or phys ranged then they know they'll only do group 1 positions for every PF they join. Even if that were to make someone inflexible they aren't punished for it because almost every PF will enforce standard comp where they're the only 1 of their role(besides melees and tanks). I don't think there's any problems with that myself. It seems to be an issue for you because you're in the minority where you're comfortable as R1 but as a caster. Only thing you can realistically do is get used to R2. Maybe make a PF where you say you the caster is taking R1 but that's probably less likely to fill.

isn't a player base issues tho? like I mean the player make those positions aren't they?
