CPU goes to 100% for startup

Having trouble with startup since around the time patch 7.2 came out. Suddenly startup went from nearly instant, to now takes about a minute of black screen before the game loads. Sometimes it just completely freezes and the only way out is to force shutdown. Checked my CPU and its at 100%. After making it to the main menu it drops back down to 7.2%. Nothing has ever taken more than 75%. Even playing the game with full graphics in crowded areas only takes 60-70% CPU so why is the simple start up screen so bad? Is there a fix, or is it something that needs to be fixed in upcoming patches?

Before doing or checking anything else I would check to make sure your drivers and all the necessary plugins are up to date as well as any firmware updates. If it still persists it could be one of the following then:

-it's either unchecked bloatware on your system
-your SSD (if you have one) and where the game is stored on your system
-it's just your system's hardware itself being a bit outdated.

(in no way shape or form saying its not an issue on SE's end but just to double check and make sure it's not being caused by your system. I'm not having any of the problems you listed)

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately everything looks up to date, and all other computer processes are taking up only 2-5% of the CPU at a time. The remaining 95-97% is taken up by FFXIV alone. I double checked when this happens, but it starts as soon as I press "Play" on the login screen, and doesn't drop below 95% until my character is fully in the game. Even during crowded times when waiting to be let into a server, it will remain at 95% the entire process. During normal gameplay the CPU generally stays at 12-25%(including background processes) only jumping up to 75% extremely rarely(patch days) and in over crowded areas. I didn't see anything in the patch notes, but it definitely started around patch 7.2

How often does the issue occur?
Are you able to reproduce the issue?

Could you provide the exact error message received, if any?
Are you running any additional programs alongside Final Fantasy XIV?
When the issue happens, is the PC over heating at all?
Were any update or changes made to the PC around the time of the issue?
Does this issue occur if the game is run in full screen mode? Does it happen in borderless or windowed mode?

Could you provide a system report? Simply go to the 'Config' option on the Final Fantasy XIV launcher and to the right of 'System Information' click on 'Display.
