I would like an option to silence the sounds of other players' crafting (and possibly gathering) actions, please. When I am in a city, those sounds can get quite obnoxious and annoying, especially when I get teleported back to Limsa after a world visit and like 50 players are doing their crafting... ugh.
And while you're at it, that option should also silence their materia melding as well. Thanks.
They should be at least silenced in cutscenes.
For some reason, they're the only sounds that aren't turned of. It's not the active crafting, but the idling in crafting state.

System Configuration > Sound Settings > Player Effects Volume.

Also has a text command, so you can make a macro
/soundeffectsother 0
/soundeffectsother 30
unfortunately it can't be used to toggle on/off without parameter like /bgm
