Blank character select screen, lobby error 2002

I log into my account and it shows a completely blank screen of the character select before booting to desktop with 2002 error. I can swap to JP data center where I have alts and that works just fine. Only issue is with Materia and 2 of my accounts. FF14 status says servers working fine and no one else experiencing this issue from my Materia friends. I used a wired connection and its speed is as usual

Edit: TLDR A small minority of players from Australia and NZ now suddenly cannot connect to the Materia Data Center but can connect to JP/EU/NA Data Centers. Majority of us are on Exetel/Superloop which share the same infrastructure, others include Dodo, 2Degrees and Tangerine ISP. Some of us are contacting our ISP whilst we await a possible moderator/developer to investigate.

The only fixes are either A VPN set to Australia (NordVPN, Mudfish and ExpressVPN tested) or using an alternate ISP via phone hotspot/tether.

Edit 2: Exetel/Superloop and Dodo have been resolved. The FF14 upstream carriers had a MTU issue resulting in packets not being sent properly. If youre still unable to connect to Materia, contact your ISP stating you're playing on PC and 'cannot connect to the OCE servers specifically (153.254.80.103) '

Final Edit: Seems most people are reporting they are able to connect as normal from the affected ISP

What Platform? Windows
Are there other programs being used when running FFXIV? Discord
When the disconnect occurs/How often? Everytime I try connect to Materia DC
Does this only happen to one character or all characters? Just my Materia characters on both my accounts, the JP characters work fine

Hiya just adding to your thread because I have the exact same issue, trying to get back to Materia/OCE

• I was in-game to start with, then got booted out due to a 2002 error and now cannot get back in to Materia at all.
• Also seeing the same blank character selection screen before the 2002 error pops up.
• Alts on other datacenters (e.g Elemental) are working fine.
• Logging in on console has the same error.

I also have the same problem with my OCE character. Having trouble connecting to the materia servers.

JP character is fine and I can connect to the date centre without any issues.

Any of you guys using Exetel as their ISP?

I can login when I disable my ethernet from my router and use my phone data tether then re-able the ethernet. I think we use Exetel for our ISP. Do you also live in Australia?

Most likely Exetel issue if we're both on it along with the cadence of people with the same issue in the past also had the same ISPs. If it doesnt clear up naturally, ill have to call them on Monday

I live in Australia. I think it's something to do with Exetel.
I used my phone's data + hotspot and was able to log in to Materia.

I'm sleepy, hoping tomorrow it will get magically fixed when I wake up. >.>

Yep, a VPN does work for me too. But I hope its fixed naturally too
