Laying off my Retainers, FOMO addict

TLDR: Paying for companion app (don’t judge me lol). If I fire 2 of the 5 retainers then go into my account and kill the three $2/mo retainer fees, will it consider the 3rd retainer as the “free” companion app retainer? Or, do I have to fire all three then re-hire the “free” one?

Explanation:

I’ve played on and off for about 4 years and am probably as casual as they come, but nearing the of Dawntrail (I think, just had that S9 event), I had mad FOMO syndrome that I’m finally getting over since grinding all my crafters and gatherers to level 100. I had five retainers (the two free and three paid) maxed out full of mats and unsellable/unique gear, chocobag maxed out, armory bag so full I sometimes can’t change jobs, and personal inventory constantly at five or six slots left. Max hoarder.

So I got the companion app sub which has great inventory management, but also comes with a retainer. I’ve dwindled all inventory to three retainers (end-game mats and meals) leaving two with zero items. Figured any mats I need, I can just go and get now with all locations unlocked.
