OCE is a prison, much like Australia use to be (Let us use DC Travel)

I am an OCE player who enjoys playing on low latency, but the one way travel system that has trapped us here isn't helping me feel like I want to stay here.

Currently due to population consensus, we can only really do daily Frontline at 5pm AEST and at no other time, if I'm even 40 minutes late I will probably just miss out on being able to do it at all. Crystal Conflict also doesn't seem to pop.

I can't continue my Shadowbringers relic questline in Bozja because Delubrum Reginae doesn't pop. Most content has to be started in PF because people don't use Duty Finder. This Data Center is a prison, much like how Australia was founded, as a prison colony, it seems like some kind of insane joke that they've recreated these circumstances.

This restriction that stops us from traveling isn't helping us, I don't want to leave OCE, I enjoy it here, but I have content I need to get done and if it isn't absolutely current, I can't do it on OCE, I COULD hop over to NA, or even JP and get it done pretty quickly and then come home, and suddenly I wouldn't be so bothered by it.

I understand the decision, they thought that if they allowed us to DC travel that OCE would just die, I don't think it would, I think forcing us onto OCE with no option for travel is what will eventually kill OCE.

The low latency is really nice, raiding here is pretty good sometimes! but when I can't complete content due to a strict time window or because people simply aren't doing it, I start to think "playing full time with 200 ping doesn't seem so bad because I'll be somewhere that allows me to complete content".

I love OCE, it'll never be as busy as other Data Centers and that's okay, but for the love of Hydaelyn please let us travel to other DCs, I just want to be able to hop over to NA or JP sometimes to get things done and then come back home to the low latency, that's all.

I mean Delubrum is something even on DC mit way more people are done in PF, nobody actually is queing for it but yea cross dc traveling would be really nice finally to get

I support this. I would move to OCE if this was possible.

If you want to know what this is like, please look at Dynamis. They are literally self sabotaging themselves by leaving their DC consistently. If SE closed their gates, they would have their queues popping. The only difference between this and OCE is that Dynamis would have more players overall due to it being in the NA region.

The unique thing about OCE is though is that everyone in the entire world can visit that DC. Its actually really cool to know I can meet someone from NA, EU, or JP on OCE.
Its the best place to meet up and socialize, but the ping is absolutely terrible for content for others outside of OCE. I wish there was a easy answer to fix this. :eek:

Remember that first month or so of Dawntrail, where they locked DC travel for everyone, except for allowing people from Aether/Crystal/Primal to go to Dynamis? I remember hearing a lot of Dynamis players commenting on how they were getting queues for once, their party finder was active, and overall the DC was certainly not dead. I have a couple alts on Dynamis, and I can certainly agree with it, I was able to complete a good number of (non-DT) MSQ duties with reasonable waits for once.



...Then they removed the restrictions and everyone immediately forgot "Oh, my DC is active if people actually stay on it" and now it's a ghost town again.

This scenario has already played out on Dynamis. If they were to enable DC travel OCE would be 100% dead 100% of the time, it may as well not even exist at that point.

The situation with Dynamis is very different since OCE is a region all on its own and not an extension of an existing region, but as it stands there are OCE people who won't move to OCE because they know they'll be trapped, and OCE people already on OCE who wish to leave because they are trapped.

The Dynamis issue is a completely different story. It's a different situation. I play mainly on Primal, and it was annoying in the beginning of DC travel because everyone went to Aether to do harder content, but that's pretty much over now and I can do my content on Primal again.

I also play on Materia (OCE Data Center) and it is far and away a different story. There's a narrow window of time to do Frontline, and if you miss it (because, say, you're an NA player trying to play with your Aus friends and have to navigate a significant time difference), you simply can't do PvP that day. I'm 3 ranks away from getting the PvP glamour gear, and it won't happen before 7.2 drops because Crystal Conflict never pops and I can't be up till 1 AM to play Frontline. And even if I did stay up, even if I did Frontline on Materia every single day until the patch drops, I wouldn't rack up enough PvP Series points to get the glamour because I'm hard capped to 1 Frontline a day on Materia.

It's not a situation I, or my friends, enjoy. I actually floated the idea of moving our characters to a Japanese DC recently because of these issues, and everyone's on board, so it's probably only a matter of time before we leave. If we had DC travel, we wouldn't have to leave permanently, but as things stands now...

That is irrelevant. If DC travel opens up to other regions your DC will instantly be dead in the water as everyone bails to other DCs to get groups for everything. You'll go from not being able to group outside of peak hours to not being able to group at any hours unless you travel to another DC. If you're fine with that then so be it but it seems pointless to have a character on Materia for the ping if you'll never actually be able to play there.

While doing content down here (G'day from Sophie!) can be rough, it also depends a lot on when and where you do it. Party Finder, for instance is the main way to get anything beyond free trial done if it's not the patch or so after it was added to the game. Since you mention Bozja, other communities such as Content Achievers on Discord are great for organising and getting progress done. Wouldn't have ever cleared a Baldesion Aresenal without their help with people and scheduling. They regularly have people pinging when each of the Bozjan duties are up so it's certainly a case of being in the know, but it's a crying shame that we rely on them so. Same with Faloop for hunts and so on...

I don't know what the solution is for down here, for if Yoship were to throw wide the gates we custodians of the international DC would soon find we're all gone. The 'prisoners' escaped as it were, to use the analogy. Maybe if there was some way to empower 3rd party communties? Perhaps a sort of psuedo-free company for specific content? (Or a way to revitalise Fellowships???)
