I have friends that agree with you so they either quit playing or play rarely. Personally, I enjoy how they add to story development and immersion. The real world isn't constant action; why would a fantasy world be that much different? Games don't have to be nothing more than a killing field.
There's plenty of content outside of the MSQ where we can get more constant action when we want it.
I wouldn't mind if the game added an unlock path for players with less interest in story (that doesn't require a real money purchase) even if I wouldn't use it myself. Roulettes and random matchmaking in Duty Finder could be locked to players that skip MSQ but they could still do the content with pre-formed parties or Duty Support. But I don't see it happening. Story is supposed to be central to the Final Fantasy experience so they want players to see it. If that's not your preference in games, there are plenty of other games to play.
