Phoenix Down in 4-Player Dungeons

I enjoy playing healer in dungeons because I know the content and what to avoid.

When a newbie sprout plays healer in a dungeon, however, a single death can cause a lot of grief.

It would be nice if all players could use at least one Phoenix Down in a dungeon so we don't waste so much more time training the healer.

Realistically, the expectations of the DPS never need to actually learn the mechanics, they can die all they want. But a healer's death can mean restarting the whole battle all over again. Sometimes multiple times.

Having all of my jobs at L100, I think there's an unfairness to being a healer, and it would be nice if we could rez them with an item.

Honestly, solid idea. 4 player casual content isn't supposed to be hard. And I agree that healers are punished harder for being worse. (Or, we're all punished harder for the healer's mistakes.)

Deep Dungeons allow Phoenix Down and that feels good. They're unique items so you're only allowed to bring one. In that way it kind of functions like the limited Criterion res.

This is how they can remove SMN's res in 8.0 and not upset everyone.

I'd rather have that than the devs making tanks invulnerable to be frank.

They are honestly connected

The biggest risk as a DPS to having the healer die is being held hostage by the tank

Right, and solo tank boss battles take FOR-EV-ER. A tank using phoenix down on a healer to rez everyone else takes away that hostage scenario.

Phoenix Dawn works same in normal dungeons and deep dungeons. Just needs to be out of combat.

What would be nice is having another source of them and maybe allow for stacking up to 3.

If tank holds you hostage you are 100% justified to report them, but do communicate with them before. Sometimes a gm will get them out even before the duty ends (seen that happen when a tank was trying to solo last boss of DT alliance raid from 10%)

I hate that they made tanks able to solo content and completely upend the trinity system but then approve GM's pulling tanks soloing content out of duties. Like why design a game where that is even possible? Phoenix Downs should be able to be used in combat. We can only carry one anyway. Everyone can revive then and Healers get a second chance when they die. Casters don't have to be balanced around resurrection utility for damage. Everyone wins. Healing can be fun and engaging when Healer deaths aren't so detrimental to progress. This game got rid of TP to make things less stressful for physical classes and yet MP still gets bottomed out when you die. It's so ridiculously unfair to casters that death has a double penalty compared to physical ranged or melee classes. Like it's been ten years and instead of reasonable changes to the combat system as a whole we get ham fisted changes like Warrior having Benediction on a short cool down in dungeons instead of making healing more accessible and less punishing. Giving all healers a single button DPS rotation does not make actual healing easier. It means they can do damage without thinking but asking a healer to think LESS to the point of boredom and zoning out unsurprisingly leads to more deaths when they stop paying attention all together. The entire combat system needs an overhaul and Phoenix does are such an obvious place for change.

100%! Is this or is this not a Final Fantasy game? You can already only carry one Phoenix Down at a time, so at most a dungeon run would see three-four uses of the item; hardly game-breaking.

But imagine if they did, that would render their whole design invalidating healers and making tanks able to solo everything completely irrelevant and pointless... They would have to rework the whole role balance and part of the battle system!

Exactly this. Allow in-battle resurrections in a 4-player dungeon
