Ranked 8v8v8 Frontline

I think this could be a lot of fun for the niche group of people who either enjoy Frontline and don't care about daily roulettes and/or are pre-made enjoyers.

Perhaps require a party of 4 to even que up and encourage the use of Party Finder instead of locked teams as Feast once had.

I used to play this game a lot and almost obsessively played Frontline. But lately I haven't even bother to log in because the PvP feels very bland (aside from Crystal Conflict, I think the job design is great.) Although I do think Crystal Conflict was fun, Frontline and mid-scale PvP was my jam and was what kept me playing this game for a long time. Now there is only 24-man death balls across all data centers in the world and it feels like there is only 1 way to play and its become boring.

As a player who is interested in this game only for PvP (wow people like that exist?), I got all of the Crystal Conflict stickers and weapons, and now the only fun I have is coaching PvP in my FC. I wish to play a more competitive version of Frontline, similar to the 8v8v8 format in days of past.

I'd love 8v8v8. But given premades always tell us that good solo players can do what they do, I wouldn't want it restricted to party queueing only.

8v8v8 sounds great, I really wish we could have such a mode!

FL is too big for me tbh. As an individual player I feel less impactful and the game can often seem chaotic and not as strategic to me. 8v8v8 could be the sweet spot between CC's very focused team fight where individual performance and strategy matter and FL's larger scale objectives and the "double" tension from having two enemies at the same time. If it has the best of both worlds it could end up being uniquely complex and interesting.

I imagine it'd be completely horrific on Shatter without significant adjustments, but yeah I think the idea has real potential. Might have to reduce the map size of Seal Rock or, better, increase mount speed.

To be honest we also need 8v8v8 FL casual back as well, but it would need severe restrictions and I don't know what they could be beyond solo or duo queue only.

Oh yeah that's true, I just automatically assumed it would be on adjusted/different maps haha.

I agree, I think casual FL would be a must to be able to practice the mode and ease new players into it since 8v8v8 sounds too multi-faceted to just jump into ranked without any experience.

Also yes on the team restrictions.

I don't like that it would split the queues to be honest, and that's a problem to keep in mind. Having a ranked 8v8v8 would be great for sure. It's an optional thing for sweaty FL parties to have fun together within its own separate queue, no qualms about that.

But I do actually miss when you queued up for FL back then, you could very well end up in a 8v8v8 because the queue wouldn't find enough players for a full 72 players game. I'd like that back, and with the caveat that if you're queued with a party above a duo, the system would just not put you into a 8v8v8. Also, since according to SE a lot more people play FL now and that's the reason they removed 8v8v8 in the first place, well, perhaps it needs another metric than just "cannot fill up a full 72 players game"... Maybe something like a preference you could set up in options, either 24 players or 72 players and it would increase your chances to get into one or the other?

Unfortunately, the SE philosophy seems to be "if queue times are short, the mode is a success." Anyone who actually plays FL recognizes how badly off this philosophy is.

Be a great mode for new players to learn their jobs and how to negotiate engagements.
