Is "0" the uncorrected setting for "Full Screen Gamma Correction"?

Under "Display Settings" there's an option titled "Full Screen Gamma Correction". The setting defaults to "50". Is "0" the uncorrected or intended look for the game and any setting above "0" a compensated gamma setting? I am asking the question in regards to taking screenshots or capturing game footage to share with others, where my display isn't a factor.

The intended look is described right there under the setting: "Recommended level: x is not visible / o is just visible." Not described there is that you want the bars in white-to-black gradient to all be the same width / distinct from each other. (At the extreme ends of the setting, you might see the bars, especially at the left and right ends, "merge" together.)

Change the value on the slider until you achieve that.

The setting exists to ensure that you specifically can see the full range of brightness values, and that's going to depend on your monitor/screen/TV, the ambient lighting around you, etc.

I am asking the question in regards to taking screenshots or recording game footage to share with others, where my display or environment isn't a factor. The setting will affect screenshots as well. I will edit my post to reflect this.

You might be overthinking this.

Why would the default value be 50 if SE didn't think it'd achieve their intended look, or something close to it, for most people and their circumstances?

Do you find yourself significantly adjusting the value off of 50?

You're right, I may just be overthinking it.

Ever since I moved to a new system, complete with an Nvidia RTX 3070, I have neither seen the "x" nor the "o" in that setting. Is it a useless setting at that point for higher-end graphics cards?
