This usually comes from outdated OS version, wrong internet settings or deactivated Edge/Internet Explorer. Type Internet settings in start and Reset all Settings in Advanced.
Good morning! Thank you for posting in the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.
We are sorry to hear that you are having trouble launching the game due to this script error. It seems that the game launcher is having trouble loading up properly. We would recommend trying out the following troubleshooting to see if it may help with this issue that you are currently experiencing:
1. Open the Control Panel, and go to ‘Network and Internet’. Once there select ‘Internet Options’
- Under the "General" tab, please delete ALL browser history.
- Under the "Security" tab, please move the slider to the lowest possible settings or no higher than "Medium"
- Under the "Privacy" tab, click “Advanced” and select ‘Accept’ under both First Party and Third Party Cookies.
- Under the "Advanced" tab, please make sure that "Allow software to run or install even if signature is invalid" is CHECKED.
- Make sure that all SSL and TLS (EXCEPT SSL 3.0) are CHECKED. [SSL 3.0 should be UNCHECKED]
- Hit "Apply" to save the settings, and then "OK, to close the Internet Options menu.
- Right-Click on the FFXIV launcher icon and select "Properties"
- Hit "Apply", then "OK" to save the changes.
- Please RESTART your PC after. Once restarted, try running the game as an administrator.
2. Windows 10/11 using Microsoft Edge
- Go to “Control Panel”.
- Go to “Internet Options” then “Programs”, then click “Manage add-ons”.
- Click "Learn more about toolbars and extensions" at the bottom and this will launch Internet Explorer once more for Windows 11.
- Once you have launched Internet Explorer, please click the gear icon in the top right-hand corner.
- Click "Compatibility View Settings" and uncheck the box where it says "Display intranet sites in Compatibility View".
- Close out of FINAL FANTASY XIV and relaunch it once more.
3. Please disable any programs and overlays that may be running in the background of the PC, including anti-virus programs.
4. Perform a clean boot by opening your Task Manager, and selecting the Start Up tab. Once there, disable everything listed, and restart the PC. This will help minimize the chance of another program interfering with the client.
5. Lastly, if the following troubleshooting above does not resolve, it may help to try a clean uninstall and reinstall of the game.
We hope this helps! Thanks for posting in the FINAL FANTASY XIV Technical Support Forums.
