Issue with Audio Volume/Listening Position

Ever since the release of 7.1 I've noticed that when my camera isn't focused on an enemy or NPC in front of me, the audio goes completely quiet and gradually gets louder the more the camera faces them. When I have headphones plugged into my controller the audio works as it did before, but when I'm listening through speakers it does this.

I've tried various options with the Listening Position slider but no matter what it's on there's still the same drop off in volume when I turn my camera. This didn't happen until 7.1 released and I'm not sure how to fix it?

I've asked some people and they said it has to be the game and not my speakers, but I'm not sure what the issue is, so I figured I would try here.

I've noticed several sound issues since 7.0 rollout - such as when we got Arcadion the stack marker for M2 is dead silent unless you are right next to it/in it, and music cuts out awkwardly for things in 7.1, especially can be heard in the Pelu quests when they decide to use the money SFX and it just hard stops any music right away, but even some of the music chop/changes we got in MSQ were jarring because they just hard cut.

Given they never fixed the Aglaia vocal volume being extremely quiet I have doubts it'll be adjusted, but might be worth putting in some bug reports.

Definitely have noticed this too, been asking in my fc and linkshells but nobody seems to notice it other than me, really. It's kind of annoying. Hoping there's enough people out there that maybe something gets fixed?

I think this has been happening to me, most noticeably with with Prishe in Jeuno when she says her "wait for it"s sometimes I have to read it in the chat box.

7.0 and 7.1 have brought weird audio phenomena. I'm just going to point the finger straight to it being some scam they're building up, to sell you the spatial audio junk (that no one asked for). Even the voice vs music levels in cutscenes seems out of whack nowadays and fixing it for one cutscene makes it wrong for cutscenes in other expansions?

For the record, going through any animated overworld doors has always nulled certain other audio in that moment, so that's not part of this.

I have the same issue since 7.1, thought I was going insane since nobody in the fc has it. Very noticable in Jeuno with Bakool Ja Ja, Prishe or Angels.

Okay, here's something that worked for me (on Windows):
1. Go to Windows Setting -> Sound
2. Find the output device you're using and click on it
3. At the bottom you'll find Audio enhancements in the Advanced settings, turn this off (mine was previously on "Device Default Effects")
4. Enjoy

It does make ambient sounds and sound effects louder though, so you might mant to tune them down a bit.

I had the exact same problem. I have tried your method but, what worked for me was having 'spatial sound' on 'windows sonic for headphones' (I am using a 2.1 audio system lmao). Now it's fine!
