It's hard to say really
Whenever I was in the scene, I've had people walk up to me and talk about the strange spires / towers that had formed during late shadowbringers MSQ
This was when it was current and it wasn't entirely clear what they were or what their purpose was
It doesn't help that the game itself doesn't seem to have a very cohesive timeline
After the fall of Dalamud it's been I believe 5 years, and after that it's left up to player interpretation / up to a year or so due to the twin's age being roughly the same
When I was on Balmung (which is the OG RP capital of FFXIV), most people seemed to acknowledge recent events so they could travel to the new areas to RP, because those recent events had opened up travel to those areas or made it less dangerous to go to them. I know this because they'd RP in say chat all the time.
Okay ty. So mostly depends on who I rp with and such. But I get a decent idea. ESO is worse in that all the events take place in one year and the rp community ignores it XD
it depend on the roleplayer mostly some does acknowledge the new content but never have done them but traveled there as merchant honestly it could be complex really fast some even use raid story as a part of there story to
