(genuinely. not sarcastically) Who is the 24 Man Savage For?

• Who is the 24 Man Savage For?
• How is preparing for it likely to work?

I've been playing XIV for four years. It was my first MMO, Sastasha and every dungeon made me nervous for about six months (maybe longer) and I never moved in Endgame circles and was in the wrong region for ages, I only just about understand how gearing works now, and my guess is I probably still don't fully understand it. (I'm not one for reddits and out of game resources and stuff.)

So for example if I wanted to consider trying to get involved, this is my starting position:
- I've never done savage.
- I've cleared about 2 Extremes from EW while they were high end, I've cleared the 2 Extremes from DT. But that's for a total of about 10 clears, I don't have a lot of practice. Very little of that was PF experience, mostly friends on voice, making up numbers from PF here and there.
- I've cleared Singularity unreal. Only 2/3 times. Again not PF.
- I'm not an omni crafter. (my crafting isn't even all levelled much less geared.)
- I've got about 15,000,000 gil and that takes me about 6-9 months to amass.
- I don't use any addons that might help me maximise market board potential.
- I've got a full set of Quetzall gear only for my PLD.
- I've got normal raid gear for some other jobs, but I would struggle to be useful even in an Extreme playing those, I could probably get passable with MNK, but not useful in anything more challenging.
- I have been basically obliged to look at my PLD logs [no shade on anyone, we all just thought we were supposed to] and (Singularoty unreal) I'm a grey parser. That may partly have been demands on our healers of our collective party and down time, but I'm not going to be solid blue touching purple any time soon. (although I seem to be about the only tank using raid mites very much I can purple parse healing consistently it seems, not that I'm suggesting that's close to significantly usefull)

What stands between me and Savage 24man being... an option?

(don't worry I'm not optimistic. But I've sort of already written this off before considering it. Which maybe I shouldn't.)

We probably wont really know until its release but it looks like its going to be in the same vein of an EX/Unreal trial instead of an actual alliance raid. Alliance only in name and party format.

Well, as long as that's how the gearing works.

I didn't see the live letter (I never really do) , but it seems like they could use all the PR help they can get. i.e. if they have an idea what the prep gearing and audience is for this already (and it seems likely they do have that math stuff roughly worked out) then they could really help themselves by shouting that loud and clear ASAP. The lower down the level this is the better, because its the casual community that's starving.

I heard someone describe this as 'mid-core' content. To me 'mid-core' is well into full on Savage. (Its just not "hard-core" three times a week, four hours, take time of work day 0 prog, clear ASAP)
Of course, if it is actually going to be 'savage' for people dedicated enough to arrange premade PFs of 24 people, then yeah, probably better not draw attention to that.

I'd be interested to hear other peoples guesswork, as it sounds like this is all pretty unknown.

I do wonder where the Chaotic Raid will exactly fall in terms of difficulty...

I don't think it would be reasonable to expect 24 people to co-ordinate as well an 8-man group, so it's probably below Savage. But they said it will drop 730 gear, which is on the level Savage gear.

They already said higher than extreme but no more difficult than the 2nd raid savage out of the 4.

Ngl I found singularity reactor unreal way harder than some savages at least to a dps check point of view (EW and DT), as for your question this 24 man "savage" I wanna believe this is the bridge from EX to Savages which this game really needed desperately this content sits between Savages and Extremes in term of difficulty so it shouldn't be hard to clear instead its encouraged to reclear it multiple times. On a side note if you really wanna try harder content then this tier is your best bet cuz arcadion is a joke compared to previous tiers the mechs are friendly easy to understand and the dps checks inexistent this tier is very friendly for pf.

If you wanna have an idea about it probably Castrum Locus Litore (CLL in Bozja) is a 48 man raid but the last 2 bosses have some mechs that kills bunch of people, Some fates in bozja (24-48 man fates) have some high level of difficulty (Red Chocobo for example) but all that content is intented to be clear by anyone that ques into it. Also the 24 man savage can be done by 12 ppl so that actually means that the mechs are designed around 12 people and the other half can share responsibility so carries are also possible but thats just me we don't actually know.

At that difficulty macros probably won’t really work with 24 man.
They said that the raid will be separated but you don’t have to be with your 8 man party for that so I honestly wonder how that is supposed to work out. They also said that you absolutely will need all 6 tanks.

Honestly I think while the content itself is probably somewhat fine they reach too high with that difficulty. It should at most be Ex.
After week one I personally only see it as a static or discord content.

Even the first hardcore raid streamers like Mr. Happy are starting to say that they focus a bit too much on hard content.

Didn’t they say that while you can go in with 12 people for training it will absolutely be made for 24 man difficulty wise? I don’t think half the raid will be allowed to just wipe there.
CLL while harder then normal content wasn’t even extreme level of difficulty.


I really only wanted more raids like CLL or Dalriada tbh. Raids that are high enough in difficulty to be fun but not high enough to demand premade parties or voice chat.
They also had the perfect amount of chaos in them.

It'll either be so easy that we all just hop in PF and do it, or it'll be challenging enough that it gets picked up by the BA/DRS discords and they will organize and do callouts for it.

That explanation didn't make sense at all for me if you can "practice" with 12 people then you can clear with 12 if you would necessarily need 24 man then you shouldn't even be able to practice with 12. Delubrum Savage was also meant to be cleared with 24 but can be done with 10 lol

If they're actually cooking, they would copy the stats of augmented tome gear onto chaotic gear as tome gear is ironically the biggest pain point for gearing currently despite being the ""generally accessible"" gear. Capped tome gear needs to be made dramatically cheaper in like 7.2 or something.
