"The designated area is full."

Hello all. I am sure most of us have had the issue of dispatching a retainer just to have it sent back, and then having to figure out which place you sent them to so that you don't send them back to it again.

I would like to suggest in one of the lettered patches that the phrase "The designated area" be changed to which row/market the player sent the retainer to. So it would read like this: "Ul'dah - Tinkerer's Row is full."

While this is small it would help players shave off a few minutes, and frustration of having to send the retainer to the market wards.

Start at the top of the list, and work your way down.
Shouldn't be hard to remember the ward u last sent your retainer to, and just choose whatever is below it on the list

A better suggestion would be:

Hey, don't do this whole market ward thing again in 2.0

What they need to do is fix the problem instead of adding more ways to work around it.

This is an seemingly easy thing to do. That's why I was suggesting it for one of the lettered patches. Since the Market wards are being chucked, I just thought this would be nice to have until then.

I suggest just being able to dispatch your retainer to the starting city of your character. At least Uldah wouldn't be as crowded, and this will promote activity in all city-states. Yes I started in Uldah myself and have my retainer dispatched in Limsa, where nothing sells. However, just because someones' retainers aren't in Ul'dah. I'm sure 2.0 will have it's own system for this. I would be in favor of a universal market ward where anyone can place a retainer in any category and not have to deal with insufficient space.

I usually find a stand open and rent it, theirs always a stand open, just have to look.

This problem would go away if the three nations ' markets could all be searched from one location. Then it wouldn't matter where you sent your retainer, everybody gets to sell their stuff, people suddenly forget there was a problem in the first place, bam. problem solved.

Even if the whole retainer thing disappeared and the whole system was changed, they'd still need to make sure there is just one global trade system instead of splitting it into three, making this the supreme thing that needs to be changed over any other aspect of trading.

I was fine with the 4 auction houses in XI.

I never saw it as an issue, sure there'll be a primary AH, but lower level things will never be sold on it.

I wasn't. It was bad then, it's bad now. Note that XI's seperate AHes have all been integrated now. All it does is inconvenience people. the City AHes only worked when the game was young and people still hung out in those places. Eventually, like with XIV, pretty much everyone

You can't deny that putting all the items in 1 pool (and effectively having 3x the amount of retainer space) would instantly erase the biggest frustration with the current system- not being able to sell stuff at all because you can't put your stuff up for sale at all except where nobody will be able to find it. The capacity for each city was designed with the thought that people would be evenly spread among the 3 cities- that didn't happen at all, and everyone piled into ul'dah because it was centrally located.

Even if we had XI's AH down to the last byte of code, having the AH in each city seperate is a bad idea. FULLY integrating the 3 so you can search all items from one location instead of haivng to check with 3 different NPCs that are each in different rooms would drastically cut down on the problems with both the current system and any future system put in place.
